The English is dreadful in a number of cases (so obviously fluency in English is not a requirement). I actually would like to debate a couple of answers, because I'm sure they're wrong. Several answers (like the women working & civil service ones) are debatable. I'm sure native Brits might give different answers than those given as the correct answer. So, basically, if you can sit over their textbook for 3 months & repeat everything rote fashion, you're fine. If you can actually think for yourself, you're buggered.

| Small Member | Bought the book for mrs Ast a couple years ago. Looked through it and thought it was full of useless information that would have very little benefit for my wife. We both decided it would be better for her to back to school and do a combined ESOL and citizenship course. Ok weve have had to do two FLR visas instead of the one before getting ILR, but the benefits of going back to school and learning English have been enormous. Scrap the bloody test, unless English is your first language, and make everyone do an ESOL course. It will certainly benefit the country a lot more. Can you believe even Canadians, Americans, Ausies, and Kiwis have to take the test. I mean jesus have you heard anything so damn ridiculous.

| Visa Consultants are merely blood-sucking parasites. Charging enormous fees for something very straight forward based on ignorance. British Emabassy warns against using any third party for Visas or Marriage. Sign posted outside the entrance in Bangkok. Embassy has very clear outlines and help for Visa applications. |

| ^Actually, as a sign of the times, the signs are gone from the Embassy. Visas are now obtained from the Ratchdamri sub-contractor's office and the 'approved' Visa consultant, which I have never used, is in the entrance hall of the Visa application centre. Sickening, perverse and, indeed, a sign of the times!

Every time it was the same, much better now. Australia and China are two that I know of who have been doing this for ages. I'm sure there are many more. | |

| Oh Fuk | I dont think that test is an officially approved one, just some commercial organisation trying to sell its answer books The only place I have seen any typical questions was in the government website, and they were merely to help you get used to the format of the test as for Aussies, Canadians etc having to take the test, why not? the t test is not about just English fluency, it is also about all you may need to know about living in Britain. as for Sparkys remarks Quote:
as for "too Fkin late", I agree, it was already too late by 1066
