I was talking about my post, see below. The 2 forms are TM28 and TM30 nowhere did I ever mention the TM47.

"They were "designed" to track "aliens" so TM28 is for the alien to report where he/she is and the TM30 is for the Thai's to report where the alien is.
This means that if one doesn't do it, as in an alien of evil intent doesn't report his/her whereabouts then the Thai people providing him/her with accommodation does.

Outcome the alien's whereabouts is known."

The TM47 is only an additional TM30 so in my opinion it is redundant. If they made the TM30 compulsory every 90 days then the TM47 could be done away with.

TM.28 is for change of address, does that trigger a requirement to change my car licence address ?

When I moved from Pattaya to Nonthaburi, officially on a Friday, the next week I visited Nonthaburi Immigration and filed the TM28. That week I also went to the Nonthaburi LTO and applied for new license plates, (took a week to get 'em I think) car inspection was required, they updated the address and new plate numbers in the cars book, and also updated the address on my drivers licenses (I needed a Certificate of Residence) for all of this so I did a run to the US Embassy for the same - using sales contract for the Cert of Residence. Also did report change of address to banks, insurance companies, Credit Cards, etc. PITA stuff.

Thai family said I was crazy and nobody does that stuff. I'm not taking any chances. But, by following the above, when I went to file my 90 day reports and my annual extensions, they went right through without any problems or hiccups.

Packing up and moving to another province ( which is what the tm.28 is for ) is hardly the same as a weekend away with the family.

Always a matter of interpretation and at the discretion of the IO

From the Thai Immigration Division 1 Webpage

As a weekend away exceeds 24 hours, how would you interpret or argue the definition?

    for completeness:

Notification Form for House Master, Owner, or the Possessor of The Residence Where Aliens Have Stay (TM.30)

So a weekend away is classed as a change of address. based upon that I should also change my licence and car book as well..... and by extension of that cancel my electric/water/internet and cable tv.

Or possibly ignore the TM.28 as weekend away is not a change of address.

But, does present an interesting quandary -

If the interpretation provided by the Immigration 1 Website i a valid interpretation, and,

as these forms are supposedly entered into a database(s), then,

if the databases are connected and comparison occurs - would not a foreigner be in violation by "Not Reporting" a weekend aways visit on the TM28 form? of course, expecting that the TM30 form is now being reported correctly.

And, just perhaps, Thai Immigration is reporting to their higher-ups just how much of a pandoras box this enforcement of the TM30 requirement is turning out to be?

If I went away for the weekend isn't it up to the Hotel to file a TM.30 rather than me filing a TM.28 ?

Yup. And when the hotel files it (the TM30) and it is entered in the database the "comparative" program is going to red flag the exception indicating a corresponding TM28 was not filed.

The IO's question will be "Why didn't you file the required TM28 as you stayed in province xyz over 24 hours?"

But, all things considered this whole "issue" revolves around enforcement of a 40 year old regulation. Perhaps they are beginning to understand just why they haven't been enforcing it for the past 40 years.

Ahhh righto, so when I go away for the weekend the hotel does the TM30 and I also do a TM28 and when I return to my rented house my landlord files a TM30 and I a TM28.

Detect a bit of sarcasm here. No need to file a TM 28 if you go away for weekend. File TM 30 within 24 hrs upon return to your residence.

Some landlords do, some don't. Talk to your landlord. If they can't be bothered then you should do it as you will be the one fined next you go to IO.

Interesting, When I did my work permit and extension last month I asked about the TM.30 and the IO said we are not interested in them ( EEC One Stop Sriracha) so I guess I cop a fine when doing my online 90 day reporting.... do they send the fine in the mail ?

You could cop a fine if a hotel filed a TM 30. If not then no prob, no fine. Fine paid at IO.
To be safe, best to file a TM 30 when you return home.

The missus books the rooms with her ID so that never gunna happen but the simple fact I've lived here and filing a 90 day report that should trigger the lack of TM.30 I assume.

Likely a TM 30 was filed when you first reported your residence. In my case, missus did it. Unless the last TM 30 IO has is different than what you put on your 90 day, you will have no prob. In your case, the wife registers at hotel, sounds you will not have a prob so don't worry about.
