Noticed all immigration booths at Swampy on the way in today now have photo and fingerprint biometric scanners.
They were operational but will be soon. Will probably extend the process no doubt.

What happened to facial recognition?
Probably 100% these days.In a paper published in 2002, the researchers found that gelatin (or "Gummi") fingers were successful around 80% of the time.

so far my experience with these at immigrations is that they work for 2-4 months and then they are all gone as they fail and of course there is no money for maintenance or replacement
and it is a bit of a worry because you know that security of the data is probably not on their priority list - the only saving grace is it is likely they will lose/destroy it through their usual competance
I see there have been a few threads recently about people being refused entry on exempt and tourist visas even though they have money and an onward ticket

does anyone know what are the rules now for tourist visas , visa exempt stamps , airport entries , land entries ?

I don't think there's a rule for flying in on visa exempt as many times as you like, although that'll be up to the immigration officer's discretion when they think you are taking the piss and you'll probably be forewarned to get a visa next time. The others I think any more than twice and you are gonna get a tug.
If you arrive looking like a scruffy bastard you are more likely to get pulled to one side imo.
Those fingerprint scanners don't seem to work too well for me. No matter where I travel where the scanners are in use there always is a hang-up with my prints 'cos the machine doesn't do whatever it's supposed to do. I get shuttled off to another desk where I queue up to have the immi officer look at my passport, grunt, then stamp and wave me off.
pues, estamos aqui
That's happened to me more than once.
I was told I have very hard to read fingerprints.
No problem with my phone, though.
