    Online appointment system in Vientiane starts Feb 1st.

    heads up goof-ballz

    The Thai consulate in Vientiane is going to an online appointment system starting Feb 1st. It is NOT like the one currently running at the thai consulate in Singapore (which has been running for over a year) where you submit documentation and get "pre-approval".

    It is ONLY an appointment booking system in Vientiane, BUT it appears they will NOT accept walk up service once this system comes online;

    here are the information pages:

    That link just leads to a 'domain for sale' page.

    There are going to be a few very pissed off people who miss an appointment for some reason. They won't be able to book another appointment for another month! Harsh.

    The system is up and running, seems pretty idiot proof I booked and canceled an appointment no problem.

    Are the number of appointments for each day limited to a certain number?

    Theres a lot of facebook chatter here in vientiane about this booking appointment thing. Personally i think foot traffic outside the thai consulate here has halved since the 2 land border crossings a year came along. Wondering if by having an appointment will be any faster/ easier? There was talk of scrapping the 2 crossings sometime this year but i guess we will have to wait and see

    At the moment i get 2 crossings via the bridge per year. Every january 1 you get 2 more if you have used them which i had. Noticed this month that my Lao B2 visa expires late january so i set the wheels in motion for another yearly B2 but as part of the process you get given a letter to present to Lao immigration at the bridge. So i had to exit Lao in order to return to Lao to complete the process thus loosing 1 of my 2 crossings. The fuckers eh.

    I am trying to book an appointment and the link goes to a 404 Error page, tried various ways of attacking it with the same result. Sending a contact email just hangs as well !!
    Cheers, TP

    Slightly off geographically but has anyone had success using the BKK Embassy online appointment system. Was looking at slots last year and plenty available but then didn't need to book. I've been checking the booking calendar this year and it is completely booked out through to xmas with the exception of a few days and when you try to select these it produces a message saying no appointments available - is this usual? Do you just turn up instead.
