Frankly, Iceman, your comments as to the nature of the relationship were quite irrelevant to the issue since a marriage is subsisting until it is dissolved. This evidently hasn't been.

I know several folk who are happily married but maintain a somewhat unorthodox relationship in that they both prefer to continue to work and maintain separate households in their respective countries but meet up as and when they can. Incidentally, they are quite mature both in age and mentality.

I suspect your wingman might envy such an arrangement.

Unless one is impoverished I will continue to vote with cohabitation or at least a minimal knowledge of my partner being the norm.

Having read the thread I could not deduce that the marriage was subsisting - my hat is doffed to you.

The estate in question has obviously piqued your interest as the pecuniary settlement would reflect your financial state of affairs.

Still, not all negative your last line was mildly amusing.

Are you Antipodean by birth or are you a lower end migrant? That post is in English but somewhat incoherent. What precisely are the points you are trying to make?

Try to keep it simple, use short words you understand and try not to be too ambitious with your sentence construction.

The happiest people I Know live like that, it's the sad coonts who look down upon them.

The saddest of all are the plebs locked in by mortgages, kids and school fees.

Oh yes, and they are to scared to leave because of the pain of splitting financial matters like the big fuk off super payout.

    Suk it up bitches.

    What was the OP again.

    An update on this .

It started as a query that SURELY there is some visa provision for a Thai wife living in Thailand suddenly needing to go to the UK when a husband living in the UK passes away ? There's not a lot of time between passing away and a cremation . This enquiry diverted a bit into how worthless is a husband who doesn't make simple provision ?
And also what kind of marriage is it when they live apart ?

Since then I'm surprised how many there are who are content in their marriage but live thousand of miles apart . There's one guy for example .... living in Germany and struggling with really bad knee joint problems . Needs complicated care and simply doesn't want to be far from his German hospital . And his Thai wife living in Korat caring for elderly parents - as they do .
And I've come across others who have built fine houses in Thailand with air and pools and still cannot take the life but are happy to commute three times a year to visit a wife who is happier in Thailand . Better Papaya .

The Thai lady in my enquiry never was able to get a visa . There's no doubt in my mind that the husband's family was pretty determined that no money would go to her . THEY wanted it . And they wouldn't make things easier by helping her get a visa.
    So nothing happened .

There is an Insurance Policy . The Company happily treat me as her representative . They wanted endless numbers of documents ....... and they made insane requests . For example they asked for an ORIGINAL electricity bill with her address but they wanted it in English . This is AVIVA I'm talking about . I pointed out to them that if they want an original document then you're talking about a Thai Company sending a bill to a Thai national at a Thai address . It's never going to be in English . And a translation is not going to be an original document .
    This huge Company said .... " Errm - OK " .

The guy died in April . In October they said they would pay her out on the Policy . Good .
Almost into January now and still waiting .

Well, an insurance payout sounds like a reasonable outcome. Good things come to those that wait.
Good on you Wasp for helping out. Just a few more emails and phone calls to press AVIVA and you can rest easy knowing you did a good thing.

Check around and you'll find very few people with good things to say about AVIVA.

    Such cynicism Captain !!!

    Such cynicism .

I'm a very nice bloke . Very kind . The lady was being robbed by her husband's family . She knows nothing of legal procedures in England .
Her husband has died ( at 53 ) . What can she do ?
I suggested she ask CaptainNemo but she said that guy's an absolute wanker . In Thai !!

    I don't think helping a person makes one a tit .
    But clearly you do .

Thus I advocate going for gold when claiming against them.

They remove payment from your Account at the speed of a Solar Photon that's in a bit of a hurry .

They seem to pay out at the speed of a dead snail glued to the back of a dead sloth .

If a Direct Debit is in place they will continue to deduct payments until they receive legal notice that the fooker has deceased.

The extra payments will be forwarded back to the Estate once the legal shit is sorted.

    Normal fookin business innit.

Ive told my Handbag that if i stroke out the first thing she must do is grab my Bangkok Bank card, go down stairs to the ATM and start ripping fook out the wedge contained within.

    No fookin way she said.

Shit scared because she recons she will be banged up for Fraud.

Hence I done the Will for her.

    " No way " , she said.

Scared because she reckons she will be charged with attempted Fraud.

Hence I've done a Will for her.
This guy had poor health but it was all mobility difficulties and severe Sciatica . He was only 53 . Came as unexpected when he passed away . And that's the lesson . You might have 20 years left ....... or maybe 20 hours .
What arrangements would you make if had 20 hours ?
    Well do them !!

I always have always kept a will updated with My solicitors who have a copy in their volts.
My dilemma is this, My Mary will do well out of inheriting My estate, that easily shall provide enough funds for her to build her dream house in village fkn nowhere.
Her big dream, building another Taj Mahal white elephant house.
Now I'm dead against this. Waste of money.
Do I make a new Will leaving everything to My 11 year old Son.
Who doesn't want to set foot in Thailand again.
Time to make an appointment with My solicitor I think.
