    Visa run from Ban Pong

Hi folks,I am currently on a retirement visa which will expire soon, for various reasons I am unable to renew it so will have to do a visa run soon. As I live in Ban Pong,Ratchaburi I presume it will have to be Myanmar, anyone know the closest/easiest route?,any help will be much appreciated.

Sorry this is copy & paste Kanchanaburi border (Phu Nam Ron) for visa runs - Hua Hin Forum

I don't do visa runs myself but have met a few who have tried the Kanchanaburi route. Been open since around August last year. I'm told it's well signposted from Kanchanaburi. Seems you can wait at the Thai immigration post while a guy takes your passport across to the Burmese side to get the relevant stamps then brings it back for you to get stamped back into Thailand. Everyone I've spoken to said it's a breeze.

It's a legal crossing so you can go further into Burma if you wish.

The cost I'm told is in the region of 5-700 bt. I think that is 500 for the Burmese stamp and a couple of hundred for the guy's trouble!

I was also told by one guy that a taxi from Kanchanaburi there and back to the border including waiting will cost about 1K.

I'm sure there's lots of info to be found on Google. When I have time, I'll do a bit of searching.

My post crossed with the one above. Top

The Kanchanaburi border only accepts non-imm visas (visa exempt) for 90 day runners.

Will find a link and post back.

I concur with what Bogon said.

Currently the border in Kanchanaburi will only let you "border-bounce" IF you hold a valid multi-entry visa. You can't use it to pull a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.

BTW: a "visa run" is when you go to a thai consulate in a neighboring country and BUY a new visa.

Seeing as you can't buy a visa for thailand at the burma border in Kanchanaburi I imagine you're wanting to do a "border bounce" <-that's done to either activate another entry on a multiple entry visa OR to pull a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp.

You'd need to use another border if you're wanting to pull a visa exempt stamp entry.
