London or Hull and other visa concerns

Gonna be back in the LOS soon and it's time to think about my visa. Should I go to the embassy in London or a consulate like the one in Hull. My old passport has a few Non Im Bs and two visa on arrival stamps. I have a new passport now, so I am hoping this won't be an issue, right. I was always legal in LOS with a work permit and the school gave me some tax card. Just worried with all these visa stories that they will accuse me of planning to work at the airport border. I am...I just want a holiday first, after that I will get legal, just as I have always done. Am I going to have a massive issue? I plan to arrive on a double entry tourist visa

Birmingham would always be my suggestion. Empty if you get there early doors, and the bloke there does the visa in about 3 minutes.

Why are you going anywhere? Why not do it by post? Hull have been stopped from taking postal applications now but you can still send it to London. My last one came back in 5 days.

I very recently obtained a triple entry Tourist Visa from Hull. Took less than fifteen minutes. My previous Tourist Visa was obtained from Birmingham, and took all of ten minutes.

The pros and cons. Hull is easy to access by car, rather out of the way if using public transport, though there is a new park and ride facility which I used last time. Its a few minutes walk from the consulate, with a frequent and cheap bus service to and from the city centre. In contrast, Birmingham is very conveniently located just a stones throw from New Street station.

Both consulates are open Monday to Friday, Hull from 0930 to 1600, but Birmingham only accepts applications between 0800 and 1100.

I can assure you that it will be your first and only visit to Birmingham. It is the third most dreadful place on Earth.

But the Visa place is brilliant, quick and easy. Massive amount of parking a 3 minute walk away.

So why is no body getting their visas done by post exactly? I can't see how getting to your nearest post office can possibly be less convenient than getting to one of those consulates.

Royal Mail have lost important documents before (all my orginal degree certs) so I am a little cautious to trust them with something far harder to replace. In the end I opted for Birmingham. Got dirt cheap tickets on one of those fancy Virgin trains too. I'll take some snaps for Cluck

Fair enough mate, that's a decent reason. I always send things to be signed for and have never had a problem. Couldn't justify spending a whole day getting a visa when I can do it in 5 minutes at the end of my road to avoid a problem I've never had. If I'd been burnt before like you I'd probably feel different.

Just got back from the fine city of Brum. The good thing was that the visa was stamped and done in 10 mins. Got a nice triple entry too. Happy days! As for the city itself...I found this article to be the most accurate I have read:Birmingham - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia
