    Imigration office closed

My Visa expires today , I went to get an extension yesterday and the office was closed.......until January 2nd , by which time I would have overstayed by four days.
Will I have to pay the fine ?

You might get a day or two's grace. But they'll probably argue that you could of gone to the border.

    Just overstay. Much easier.

I went for an extension three days after mine expired. Because they were closed when it expired I had no problem getting an extension.

According to my Immigration Office, you get a week's leeway either side of the due date.

    I asked them specifically.

Just tell them that you police your local Wat when the NA is played and they'll let you off.
Mind you it is curtious that you check when your visa expires and check immigration opening dates over a holiday period.

I didnt think that a Buddhist Country would close down for a Christan Holiday .

It is closed for New Year, if it was Christmas it would have been closed 24, 25, 26, but it was open.

You are thick. Its New Year in every country in the world. Thailand does not operate on a lunar calendar, nor do any of the ASEAN countries.

Dont be a twit and tell me North Korea does not celebrate.

    Fluke,

You must stand to attention whilst vigorously and thoroughly gesturing towards the appropriate passport page, apologetically declaring your immigration office holiday closure ignorance...

Yes, that's what's called for! Furthermore, no indulging in any form of dis-respectful seatedness is most necessary and prudent, given the plight!
