    U.K Passports for the kids

    Application forms complete.

    Photos taken and countersigned.

5000 baht per passport in the bank.

    Now what?

From what I read, I have to go physically to Bangkok with the children and hand in the applications which will then go on to be processed in Hong Kong?

    Correct?

I never went to the Embassy.

I went to DHL and told them I was sending to the UK Embassy in Hong Kong.

They had everything ready. Preprinted envelopes and a simple form to fill in.

    Easily done.

Bob, you are probably talking of passport renewal for your kids, not first time application, which definitely needs you to turn up at the Embassy with your missus, same same how we have to tag along when applying for a Thai passport for the kids

So that's an unequivocal 'must go to the embassy'?

Then I assume they flick through the paperwork and OK it for processing in Hong Kong?

Any ideas how long the process takes?

    I read six weeks.

    Seems disconcertingly lengthy.

Even if you can do it a first app Bobs way, I would be inclined to have the Embassy check it out first. Hong Kong can return apps for a host of reasons and you are six weeks further on and have to start again.
Sure there was someone on here recently complaining that his app had been refused because the photo back ground was the wrong colour.

Yes, they mention this in the application notes which I've read thoroughly. But you're right. I'll have an embassy official go through it first - if they can be arsed.

Didn't need any input from the mrs or a physical kid to show he exists, but did need to present self at bkk.

for the first passport you have to go to the embassy, or rather the embassy sends it for you
    took 4 weeks in total

also dont bother with notification registration its a waste of time
i know your kids are older so the process may be different

Not hugely urgent, Chaz, but yes, we are planning a prolonged stint in the U.K.

Yours and your Missus passports, kids birth certs, your long birth cert and i cant remember if u need your Missus birth cert.

I would take all that and the embassy will send u over the road to the translation place and tell you what you need to translate.

I forgot to get the nippers photo countersigned , so i said my friend was outside and went out and filled in the form with bogus info and signed the back of the photo myself

If you give them the papers they want they'll give you the papers you want, no need for the mrs or baby, and his passport arrived in 3 weeks.

They've (THE BRITISH TWATTING EMBASSY) have moved the goalposts again. All overseas passports now get processed in the U.K after an interview in Bangkok.
