Visa issue from UK to Thai update on some changes

Just a few lines to let anyone know of the recent changes in visa requirements .

If you want a 1 2 or 3 entry tourist visa still not much to do just passport + 2 passport photos + completed form + visa fees 3 entry being the most expensive at £75,, what you also have to remember with ALL visas they become active from issue date , so you cannot really pre order too far ahead of your trip .

If your going for a 12 month multi entry non im O category which I guess most in my position will,, your best 2 options are

!. Based on marriage ( if you are ) however they do not recognise a UK marriage cert it has to be Thai registered , so if its not there is some palava where you have to send it off to another dept then get it recognised then forwarded to the Thai embassy.

Then as in my case .

    2. Over 50 but now you have to show proof of income to get this i.e. the last 4 months bank statements showing a minimum income of £1400 per month.

OR a statement showing £20000 capital in your bank .

Also I spoke to the girl in the Thai consulate last week and she informed me they have been told its looking very likely from September onwards this year we will no longer be able to apply by post for visas , it is going to be by appointment in either the embassy or a consulate only .

I mention this so as any of you thinking about getting one later on in the year keep your ear to the ground incase you need to book time off to go before its too late .

    Ok cheers
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Just a quick pointer for anyone who needs Visa advice, its always best to get it first hand yourself at your nearest Thai Embassy.

In almost all cases you will need to go to their Website to download which ever forms a required anyway, where all the updated information can be found.

The main advice I would give to someone about Visas for Thailand is that you will most likely find that information given to you outside the country will differ from what local Thai immigration go by!

There will always be another hoop to jump through!

What Consulate are you dealing with Nigel? I was viewing Hull consulate visa requirements online yesterday for a non- im 'o' and they were still quoting 1200 pounds income per month. Increased from 900 pounds in July 2012.

The consulate in Birmingham are still quoting 900 pounds on their application.

    OVER 50: -
IF IN RECEIPT OF PENSION A COPY OF PENSION STATEMENT IS REQUIRED OR A BANK STATEMENT SHOWING PENSION PAYMENT.
PROOF OF INCOME WITH A MINIMUM OF £900 PER MONTH (IF NOT IN RECEIPT OF A PENSION

    Yes it was just that

Why post a thread which clearly is of no help to anyone, the O.P is just posting running commentary of his dealings which benefit no cnut.

If you need any advice the Embassy is the place.

Why would this thread be of no help ?

It advises you that the info on the website is out of date, as has been shown to you twice

Never looked on a forum for Visa advice personally as everyone,s personal dealings are not much help to me.
Requirements do change and the best way to learn about those changes if need be is to contact the Embassy personally.

The O.P is giving advice, which does not mention any information being out of date on Embassy web sites.

This is not brought up until after Mr Lick questions the O.P showing different information, then funny enough this becomes a point.

I can,t imagine many people would seek visa advice in this way when clearly the Embassy will give you whatever information is required first hand.

If people wish to read about visa requirements on forums where members contradict each other with gossip good luck to them.

Why would someone want to go to the expense of visiting the embassy and waiting in a queue when all the info is out there in cyber space, in places like the Visa forum on here or Thai Visa ?

here's your Thai Embassy London website

    Nicely updated

Good luck with finding anything of worth on there on a Sunday

If you are going to go to the bother of looking on cyberspace you would most likely go straight to the Embassy Web site.

There you will find a phone number which is not exclusive to the O.P or anyone else for the Embassy.

You need to go on the Embassy site to download visa application forms anyway, the phone number is for any queries you may have

The only time you have to go to the Embassy is when you submit your forms and passport with what ever else they require for your particular visa.

Can not see why you think people go there just to ask a few questions

Its not Rocket science Dilly!,but as I said if others want to read second hand gossip on forums good luck to them.

This thread seems close to your heart, was the process of getting a Visa a bit of a challenge for you.
Maybe that,s why you find these threads so helpful

Right some more bang up to date info . Today Monday 29/07/13

BTW ,, I should add this is for the 12 month multi entry I am applying for .

You CAN still apply by post to the Thai Consulate in the UK of your choice ,, BUT then what happens is the consulate check your paperwork THEN fax copies of it through to the Thai Embassy who then re-check your documents and if the EMBASSY decides its ok to issue the visa , they then contact the Consulate to ok the stamp in your passport to be posted back to you .

A Thai Consulate no longer actually in effect issues the visa ,, only on the nod from the Thai Embassy further up the line .

Now as for the requirements for evidence for my visa .

    I am over 50

As I stated before at least 4 months bank statements showing a monthly income of over £1400

We dont have a Thai marriage ticket only a UK one which is NOT recognised by the Embassy ,, so its the proof of earnings route for me.

Also to bear in mind for the near future , I was told today from the Consulate the next thing to be added is proof of savings , ie a saved amount to cover the time of your stay in Thailand ,, so just incase I have sent them a copy of my savings as well just to be on the safe side .

Another thing the lady told me today also not to be suprised if soon proof of insurance for your period of stay could well be added to the mix.

I kinda get the feeling and I am sure others are getting the message in the long run we are not really wanted in Thailand ,, at the moment I still have an open mind on where I will eventually retire , I think what we are doing this year building a small home on the wife,s land is just about right.

Lanzarote is becoming more appealing every week now

Sorry lads , I should have added of course there is allways the option ( an expensive one from where I live ) to take a day off and go to the Embassy in person for your visa ,, dont forget they only open a short period of time in the morning only.

Hope this thread helps any of the lads who do the annual pilgrimage for a few months, thanks for the greens received on this thread ,, including one from a mod ,, so cant be all bad .

Always good to learn from others experiences when you are new to the world of visas etc. Its helps to prevent you from making the same mistakes and saves time and money in the long run.

Just wondering nige do they require a blood sample and urine test yet over there? Lol amazing the hoops one has to jump through just to be allowed to stay and spend ones money in Thailand and the EU and US just let people in by the boatload especially if they don't have any money whatsoever.

I hope the Thai Embassy in the US doesn't start being retarded when it comes to Multi entry non O's in the future as the 1st one that I applied for 8 months ago was a breeze to get. Fill out the form, add money order, mail, get visa in about a week.
I'm not saying it was Aliens, but it was Aliens!

It was a breeze when I got mine at the London Embassy!

Download the application forms, read what was required before double checking the information by way of phoning them.

After submitting all the relevant paper work and paying the fee, picked up the passport with visa in three days later.

Piece of piss fail to see what all the fuss is about
