10 Year Visa to America - wife's passport expires soon

My wife got a !0 Year Visa to America that is in her current Thai passport. We are going to Bangkok in a few weeks to get a new passport as it is about to expire. Several of her Thai friends told her if we go to the US, she just need to show them her old Thai passport when she arrives in LA. It does not seem right to me. The US Embassy website is as useless as tits on boar.

    Any advice?

^That is correct. Or, if you're not comfortable with that, she can go to the USEmbassy and get the visa transferred into her new Thai ppt.

^^ Ask at the US Embassy when you are in Bangkok.

Thank you Davis. I could not find that on the embassy website appointment list and I am sure they will send her packing is she just shows up unannounced.

^I would recommend you phone the Embassy. Ask for American Citizen Services. Tell them you are a USCit married to a Thai, and, for your own peace of mind, confirm that the visa in her expired ppt will do the trick. Then, ask how you go about getting it transferred into her new ppt.

Exactly, and in my wife's case they attached two passports together when the new one was issued. The old with the visa and the new. No problems. Normally you and your wife can walk in together and get great service. As Davis said the American services side.

I wish I had the money to even get my wife to America, been married for over 10 years and the hoops and the money required to do so are too extreme.
