    Update.

On Dec 31st I received an email saying my proof of address wasn't enough because I'd used my driving license which showed a different address than the one I'd put on my application form (I have a 5 year license and I've moved since I renewed it).

They sent a list of things I could use instead as proof of address and an immigration letter was the easiest so after the extended break and a bit of fannying about on my part I got that and sent it off to them via DHL on the 10th Jan.

Got word today that my new pp is in BKK and I can collect it anytime so a month to the day even with the new year and xmas holidays and me wasting a few days.

They didn't put any restrictions on the time to collect it or have a need for an appointment etc, just turn up with old pp, receipt from the application and get the new one. I can send a proxy if I wish with the same details that boloa listed above.

Anyone know of a habitable hotel close to the Trendy Office building. I've got to make the pilgrimage to BKK in a few weeks time for a 9am appointment, so I need to travel the day before and stay overnight. Don't need a gym, pool or anything other than a place to kip overnight.

Hello I don't know if this thread is still being used. I tried to get a resident letter yesterday from Immigration (Siracha) yesterday and the jobsworth totally refused to issue me with one. A few people have said that they used their driving license. I can't see an address on mine. Is it actually chipped into the card? If that is the correct term.
    Cheers Sep

    Hi Bola,
Sorry you are right it is. Not being able to read Thai I didn't notice it, as it appears to me to be a very shortened version.
    Thanks for that.

I thought it was 18 for the states and when we renewed the kids last year found out it was 16. I am sure its the same for the UK.

    https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-adult-passport/overview

    Overview

You can apply for your first adult British passport if you’re aged 16 or over and 1 of the following:
    • a British citizen
    • a British overseas territories citizen
    • a British subject
    • a British national (overseas)
    • a British protected person

can anyone who has done this in the last 6 months confirm the procedure ?

go online and fill out the form

photo copy all the pages in your passport in colour make an appointment via email ? phone ? - the aim would be to happen on october 26th , would that be likely ?

turn up at soi 13 wait 3 weeks and come back and collect
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Can some one give me a phone number to call in Bangkok about passport renewal.

My mates passport expires in Feb 2023 but he has less than one page.

He is on the second entry of a double entry tourist visa.

is his best option to get an extension for 30 days (chong chom ) and then DHL his passport to his daughter in the uk and have it renewed and DHL back ?

I got one about 18 months ago so could be different.

I filled in a form that I got online. Then I took that to DHL on Sukhumvit (between soi's 8 and 10).

The British embassy have a deal with DHL (since they stopped processing passports here) for 1000bt they send the form off to HK and get it back to you (all registered and signed for)

Don't have to send your old passport and I got it in about 12 days.

02-305-8333 is the British Embassy on Wireless Road.

I found this too; British Embassy Consular Services Bangkok

You don't send your passport when you renew it here in Thailand you send copies of every single page. Plus once you submit the application for a new passport your current passport is canceled, can't be used to travel on until you get the new one.

When you get the new passport make SURE you get the letter from the embassy that says you got a new passport and asks immigrations to transfer any active permission to stay stamps into it. It's a free letter, but for some reason you gotta ask for them to give it to you. One of the other posters didn't ask, and had a problem at immigrations without it

With the new regulations in place for renewals, you need to pay by credit or debit card.
Has anyone successfully used a THAI credit card ?

If you don't have a real honest to goodness Thai credit card you aren't gonna be able to.

Those ATM cards with Visa/Master Card on them which are tied to your bank account are just debit cards and don't have a CVV/CVC code on the back of the card after your account number.

Unless I'm wrong that means you can't use them for online purchases because they ask for that three digit code during the transaction.

    British Passport Renewal in Thailand
    – Note that you must apply in person.
    – You must bring photo ID with you.
    – Bring original supporting documents and a photocopy of each one.
    – The original documents will be returned to you.
    – You must also bring your current passport with you when you apply
    – Also a full colour photocopy of the entire passport (all pages incl. blank pages).
    – You can’t travel with it after you’ve applied for a new one
    – You can keep your existing passport for ID purposes.
    – You’ll need to book an appointment by email. Include your name and last name
    – Book 3 alternative dates and times.
    – You will receive an email confirming your appointment.
Lots of you will do this... you will do that.... no instructions about what documents, where to get forms etc.....

also, the documents that were accepted by the staff there were not always accepted by the people processing your passport back in the UK.

we had a couple of times when the Thai person here must have just thought it easier to accept what we gave them as proof of whatever but the scouse in Liverpool or wherever doesn't so we had to send more paperwork delaying the passport. The guidelines are a maze.. "if you are applying for a passport for someone born after February 1998, has blonde hair and 3 fingers you need to provide proof of blah blah blah, if they have 3 and a half fingers you need your grandmonthers birth certificate and a picture of her fellating a horse."

Im not sure if this will help but i recently applied for and received my sons passport (took 13 days from applying) through Trendy in Bangkok.

The thread i wrote about it may help some as it contains all the links to the UKGOV site with all the requirements and forms.

https://teakdoor.com/doing-things-leg...ml#post3082026 (I just applied for my child's first UK passport)

I used a UK debit card and it was accepted. Im afraid i don't know if a Thai one will work but can't see why not.

Call or email the trendy office and ask them to clarify.

I am just applying for a a UK PP renewal .
    Documents required are

Please provide one of the following:
    • visa or resident permit (or colour photocopy)
    • tax record eg a letter from a tax authority
    • educational record eg school report
    • employment record eg official letter from your employer
    • letter sent to you from a central, regional or local government department
    • medical/health card
    • voter’s card
    • immigration documents.

But I do not have any of these.
Could I post a letter to myself and use that as proof of address ?
