Applying For A Thai Marriage Visa From London UK

Hi all. Not sure if anyone on here has done this, but here is the situation. Hubby, who is Thai, and I are in London now and we are making plans to go to Thailand in December. He will stay for a couple of weeks, but we want me to be able to stay until April or May.

I don't really want to do border runs, and since I was on a marriage visa in Thailand before, we'd like to know how to do this again, but from the UK. I want to be able to arrive in Thailand with my marriage visa, the same as any other one year visa.

I have a home address in Bangkok where I will be staying so the three month checks are no problem. I would love any info or advice from any of you who have done this.

I don't trust contacting the embassy because when I have done this in the past, they have neglected to inform me on what I needed and made me go back about three times for any paperwork.

Thanks and greenage to you if I can.

You will get a 90 day stamp on arrival. You can then extend for up to 365 days.
The only visa which gets you a 365 day stamp on arrival is a retirement visa.

Thanks, guys. Hopefully it will be as straightforward as that. I'll let you know. We're planning on going to the embassy in the next week.

There is a Thai Consulate in Cardiff. Brilliant lady there, incredibly helpful, and the Consul is a really nice man who used to play bowls with my mate.

Welcome to the Royal Thai Consulate, Cardiff

^^Nigel, Hull is a bit far for me. PS Keep being nice to those immi guys.

^ can I still haven't made it over to Wales thanks to a combination of the weather and time. With The Olympics, my mom and friends coming to London, The Paralympics and some other personal stuff keeping us busy, Wales will have to wait. It's looking good for September for both of us going.

An update. We went this morning, got there at around 9:50. They are open from 9:30 to 12:30 for applications, visas and all that. We gave them our papers and money. The lady at the counter was helpful and polite. My visa will be ready on Friday, so nice and quick.

I applied for the multiple entry Non-O. This one costs £125. One thing we didn't know, however, is that I need to leave the country every three months. When I had my Non-O based on marriage when I loved in Thailand I didn't have to leave the country, just check in every three months. So this is an FYI for any of you who need to apply for this from the UK.

Glad to hear it went easily. Leaving the country once every three months shouldn't be that onerous.

Thanks, can. I must have been a hippie in a previous life.

Thanks, Sir Wil. No, it isn't and there are so many nice places to go that are easy from BKK. I've been to different parts of Malaysia but I've never been to KL or The Cameron Highlands. I'd love to go to both of these and other areas nearby.

A food family friend has been living in Pnomh Phen (sp) for about 7 years now and this would be a good chance to go see him. Can you believe in Ll my 4 years loving (555) in Thailand, that I never actually went to Cambodia as a tourist? I only went over the border a few times for those crappy border runs.

So that covers two exits. I also really want to get back to Bali and maybe Lombok this time. Seeing Terry's latest thread on Bali is giving me the itch. OK, so that's three. Just one more to go, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

That means you were on an extension. If you are going to be in Thailand for a long stay then you can apply for an extension again.
