School for learning Thai in BKK?
Hi everybody,

Can anyone recommend a school for learning to read, write and speak Thai in BKK?

Preferably 1 or 2 hours a day, 3 or 4 days a week or something like that.

Tried with a private teacher before but just felt stupid when I got the pronunciation wrong all the time. Unless the problem is that I actually am stupid I thought it might be easier to learn and keep the motivation up if I have people around me that are struggling as well.

In Ratachadaphisek, school are not too expensive. I think i am gonna study at My Thai Language School in Ratchada. After visiting them few days ago, they look pretty serious and their method seems to be efiicient. If you want to go, it is at the RS Tower, 18th floor, mrt Thailand Cultural Center, right next to Esplanade. I believe they have a website too.

To the OP....depending on if you are actually stooopid and then depending on if you are actually more or less stooopid than me, then one on one is the best. If you fall behind in one on one, just imagine how hard it will be in a class when they have a schedule to keep up to.

Think I'm more lazy than stupid so it'll be good for me to have to be in time for class and having to do my homework

For your pronunciation, try to just listen to as much Thai as you can, whenever you can. Instead of listening to music, get a tape with basic Thai dialogues, listen to it over and over again. After a while things will start to stick. Don't try to read it or speak it, just listen to how it actually sounds. After a few months you will know the dialogues and be able to play them in your head.

That's a good start for starting to learn pronunciation as you will have the right sound available in your head.
