A friend who works for Inlingua tells me that the company are closing (in a few weeks) their Head Office and branch at Central Chit Lom. The Head Teacher and all salaried staff are getting the push, and the admin and Corporate department are moving to Esplanade on Ratchada.
Interesting that just a week or so ago, one full-time work-permitted teacher was told he would have to take a whopping 75% pay cut this month (and perhaps even longer) , or he may be given notice if he didn't agree. He is unsure how many other full-timers will also have been given the same ultimatum. He hasn't ben contacted since, but it would mean that his 35,000 minimum salary would be reduced to 8,750 baht - who can live on that?
One has to wonder if the MD, DoS, Head Teachers and other senior staff will be taking the same whopping cut, voluntarily or otherwise.
It's astonishing that a company which has tried to place itself at the top of the tree, appealing to the 'hi-so' level of society, has fancy-dancy upmarket branches, does not have the reserves or liquidity to weather a 4 week storm caused by the floods.
Also interesting that THREE head teachers left in as many months some time back, one of whom seems to have either jumped before he was pushed, or maybe had a hefty nudge.
I am told other branches are under active consideration so there's going to be a lot of changes soon - and the same people also own ECC so what will happen there?
Time to get the ticket home for some, maybe many.
