Education Ministry to hire 13,000 administrative officers

The Education Ministry is going to tackle the shortage of teachers by hiring 13,000 administrative officers for state schools.

Education Minister Jurin Laksanawisit Friday pointed out that the lack of administrative officers had long forced teachers to handle administrative works, which made them less focused on teaching tasks.

"Hiring administrative officers will also reduce unemployment rate in the country," Jurin said.

Deputy Education Minister Chaiwuti Bannawat said priority in recruitment would be given to applicants with registered hometown in areas where schools were located.

Don't have to know jack shit about teaching or anything about education, but you have to live close.

Hmmmm.... there were loads of admin staff at my school, but teachers were still expected to do admin work. We kinda pointed out that a lot of the admin were sat on their arses all day on MSN and they could do some stuff for us, but we were told it was the duty of the teacher

We have a shortage of English teachers at my place (Thai). Believe it or not, the college has had great difficulty finding teachers.

If they stopped all of this "re-testing" of students (due to failing an exam), they'd have lots more time to do real teaching.

As of next week, I will have to examine my students (all 700 of them). My exam will be oral & will consist of about 3 questions. I am given 3 weeks to complete the exams, which is just enough time. There will be, however, some students who will fail. The Thai way to deal with this is to offer them a re-test. The obvious way to deal with this is to fail the students & make them do the course/semester again but this may not be viable due to the expense of paying to do the course/semester again. Many Thai families are poor & cannot afford this.

I've just had a bright idea. Redirect that 45 million Baht wasted on the idiot control freak ICT, to education.

My wife is a teacher, she teaches English at a Thai school at Nong Maena, she has to do admin work at home at night sometimes til 0200 and a lot of her time is spent running the daily issues of the school as the principle is often drunk by noon, if not before and some of the junior class teachers drink with him too.
Thailand has the most fucked up educational system in the world I think.

well I do not really know that much about educational systems, my Aunt was a high school teacher and so was one of my cousins wives.
And I was porking my sweet little english teacher my last year in school.
