| Teaching In Thailand Being a international school teacher in Thailand can be a great career with salaries in the range of $2,500 to $6,000 per month, or you could become a TEFLer teaching English with a salary range of 350-600 pounds per month, although with many teaching jobs it could be worth doing a TEFL course even if no experience is necessary, but will teaching students fulfil your overseas jobs yearnings? Is a English language teaching job something you really want to do? Can you teach English? |

| TEFL's are scum of the highest order. They finish work on a Friday and follow happy hours all over bangkok, they are wasters who I'd never let educate my child. the standard of education here has led me to believe that when my son comes of age I will take him back to the UK (He's 6 months and I'm already thinking). My wife can be a real dumb fok sometimes which gives me heart in thinking that my son won't be if educated elsewhere Last edited by Mr Pot : 01-09-2008 at 03:08 AM. |

| The Dog | Lets take a look at your average TEFLer in Thailand, they done a 4 week course and bought a Khao San Road degree, so for a start we know they have no qaulms about cheating and missrepresenting themselves, committing fraud etc etc, the majority do not have valid work permits for the work they do, ie privates etc, so they are more than willing to work illegally and also to evade tax etc, so far they don't look so good do they... But how many native English speakers are there working in Thailand as TEFLers? Lets say 10,000, so why the fok is the level of English so shite in Thailand compared to other Asian countries?

| foking hell the level of english in Cambodia with children is far higher than the standard of aldults her in Thailand. Fok knows where they learn it from, i believe it's because they realise that within their social being it is a very useful tool. Even hawkers on the beach can impersonate different accents which is impressive. Thailand is too foking proud and always fault you for foking up the effort is only one sided, that being farang making the effort; thais are never wrong |

The Thai curriculum is nought but teaching sheep to eat grass. Shifting blame from an uninspired , uninformed population to those that set said curriculum would be a better way to improve their level of education me thinks. Teach your kids at home Mr Pot's and you might save yourself the boredom of dreary UK winters and a few thousand pounds of airfares..... though it would be a bastard with happy hours going 4 - 9 these days. | |

| เมดอินไทยแลนด์ | Any man or woman who's able to survive anywhere he or she goes has my respect. So they're teflers, so what, at least they're making a living while moving on, making money for bread and roses, good for them. People who believe in qualifications and dedication to their work are slaves, licking their fucking chains while pretending they're doing what's "right". Real men, and real women keep on moving onwards and outwards, without fucking other people up too much. The true people are the nomad people, good fuckin' luck to them! |

| Common sense, Ok I'm not qualified to teach my son a curriculuem but I sure know the difference between TEFL'n scum and highly qualified teachers out here. There's a chap at the bottom of my soi, boring to socialise with but a highly trained and qualified teacher and a perfect role model; even I could use a few lessons |

| ^^^ I've worked in the efl industry here for a few years and I wouldn't let half the people I've worked with have any type of influence on my kids, if I had any Janda, never mind educate them. Saying that, knowing what it takes to teach, the quality of the teachers back home is nearly just as bad. Teachers need to be interested in their work, always want to improve, always aim to inspire, always aim to captivate their students. Most of the teachers I had back home were droll, boring, unmotivational and uninterested in the students and actually teaching them. But at least they weren't piss poor attempts at human beings like many of the teflers I've worked with here. |
