| Teaching In Thailand Being a international school teacher in Thailand can be a great career with salaries in the range of $2,500 to $6,000 per month, or you could become a TEFLer teaching English with a salary range of 350-600 pounds per month, although with many teaching jobs it could be worth doing a TEFL course even if no experience is necessary, but will teaching students fulfil your overseas jobs yearnings? Is a English language teaching job something you really want to do? Can you teach English? |

| I would have a problem with any teacher that openly displays his or her sexual orientation, be it gay or straight. A teachers private life or sexual preferences should not interfere with his or her job - in fact I think this applies equally to pretty much all professions. |

| i knew two gay teachers in Thailand. Both were open about their sexuality, they didn't hide their partners. Both though were very straight in manor. No mincing or pansy like actions. Just acted like normal men but they were gay. They were unsure of what their feelings were on a camp pansy type teacher. They didn't really like the mincing boys themselves.

| All the common misconceptions and stereo-typing come out once again in this thread. Gays aren't effeminate and don't talk with high-pitched voices, most are like everyone else. Homosexuality and pedophilia are two different subjects. I do not see how being 'openly' gay would interfere with teaching. Would one be concerned about sending one's daughter to a school with male heterosexual teachers? Homosexuality is part of reality, why should one hide its existence? Kids are not that naive and gullible. |

Who needs evidence, I wrote I bet many pedophiles are ass bandits. If you really want some kind of evidence got back and look at how many pedophiles are caught with young boys and how many are caught with young girls. I think the young boy cases win hands down. Now I didnt say poofs are pedophiles but if you checked all the reported cases I guess you would come up with idea that many pedophiles are gay Last edited by Rigger : 26-05-2008 at 10:30 PM.

I guess the key word here is openly gay, if we mean honest and comfortable about their sexuality then I have no problem with that.... if we mean chip on their shoulder about being gay and needing to shove that down everyone's throat, then no they wouldnt. I've met both types of teachers, male and female.

| Phatthalung | My high school advanced placement history teacher (I guess A levels is the Uk equivalent) was 100% mincing queer. But the man was passionate about the job, well prepared, genuinely cared about his students, and did everything he could to make sure we succeeded not just in school and in life. Through him, I learned most of the critical thinking skills that got me through university and graduate level exams and he helped countless students get into their choice schools. He put his heart and soul into the job and I am proud to have known him and been his student. Maybe someday, Texpat, you could be half the man this queer was.
