    Is this a teacher scam?

Ideas for fund-raising projects for seriously injured T.Tyler - Ajarn Forum - Living and Teaching In Thailand

I have a close friend who works as a Bumrungrad ICU doctor. He says he's never heard of this guy. I'm not saying that it is a scam, and my mate could be mistaken, but it does seem like quite a begging, money-hungry piece of work, with new people signing up for the forum then doing their upmost to build up the guy as being so nice and deserving of financial aid from the teacher community.

It wouldn't have been too difficult to get the newspaper to run the story CANOE -- CNEWS - Canada: Edmonton man unconscious in Thailand with just an email and phone call or two and then try to milk to the believing public.

    Thoughts?

I must admit, the thought it was scam crossed my mind.

Then I felt bad - thinking only the worst of my fellow man and being insensitive to the need of a suffering man.

Then I realised I didn't really give a shit either way.

If it is a scam, good luck to him. Fools and money are easily parted and if it wasn't this scam, they'd be dishing out money for some other stupid reason.

If it isn't a scam...well, looks like he's being well looked after now.

Shit, the way he looks and dress's there should be gang bangers standing in line to pay his $3000 a day room bill.
Love that hat, he just looks so cool.

I don't know this man in the hospital.

    I am not rich, either.

Therefore, I won't give one red cent.

And hey, I'm not even Canadian.

must admit i get a tad annoyed with the posturing, moral high horse and emtional blackmail being employed by various ppl to compel others to donate to a complete stranger....

who, i'm sorry to say, should have had his own feckin medical insurance anyway, it is not that expensive!

Okay the guy is hurt and has no insurance. But when the sister is quoted as saying the hospital costs 3,000usd a day, and they need the money for accomodation and travel expenses it gets a bit much. She also got it in the press she is a former playboy playmate as well.

He he, unfortunately no can do, he's lucky to be alive thus far. In a "cheaper room" he almost certainly wouldn't be.

So, your saying cheaper rooms the patients don't get so much care? Your saying the more money you pay the better your chances of survival if your in a Thai hospital?
