    Cambridge University has TEFL answers

The Education Ministry is planning to seek help from Cambridge University in England to set up an English study programme for Thai students.

If CU take this on you just have to know it's a money-gouging exercise. Anyone with half a brain knows that it's the quality of the TEFLer that's the problem and that is going to need real incomes for real teachers.

Don't get too excited about this latest pronouncement.

The Education Ministry is planning to seek help from Cambridge University in England to set up an English study programme for Thai students.
No help has been given, no help has yet been sought.
Help may or may not be given. Help may or may not actually be sought.

The minister sees the problem as being with the Thai teachers.

Problems have arisen in the past because standards of language teaching at universities vary, he added.

The minister also wants foreign teachers to help coach Thai teachers on how to teach languages in class, Mr Theerakiat said.

"We need to get Thai teachers on the same page to improve teaching," he said.

He would be blind if he didn't.
