Tell me about the Master’s of Education, Bilingual Education (International Program) at Rangsit University.

A mate is considering doing it, is it worth it?

Will it help him get into an international school?

Has anyone heard of Rangsit Uni, is it any good, is there international programme actually international ?

Rangsit University is well to the north of Bangkok. It's surrounded by an industrial area. There is also a branch of Thammasat University and Bangkok University up there, so there are a lot of young people in the area. The campus looks nice and modern, but the dusty landscape surrounding the green university is rather bland. If you want to see the tall buildings and colorful lights of modern Bangkok, you'll have to catch a taxi into town. With no traffic, it'll cost you about $7 -10 (USD) and take about 45 minutes each way.

Bangkok itself is awesome. If you've never been to South East Asia, it's probably like no place you've ever been.

Rangsit University is a private university. Rangsit is well known in Thailand, but it's mid-range in terms of ranking. It's definitely not a top school, but it's not bad either. I do not believe the courses will be difficult.

Personally, I was considering studying at Rangsit University for a semester overseas, but I chose not too because it was located outside of Bangkok. If there is any way you can study at Chulalongkorn University, I would recommend that school over Rangsit in terms of both location and academic ranking.

Even if you do study at Rangsit, I think you'll have a good time experiencing the Thai culture.

I studied for an MA about 5 years ago at Chulalongkorn University. Very nice location and grounds near to Siam BTS, but the term fees for foreigners were a killer!

RANGSIT!!! I actually used to live in Rangsit near Future Park and, IMO, it's pretty much an industrial waste town. It's tough to even get around without a Thai language foundation - it was a rough 3 months before I headed north. Getting into BKK is a laborious process due to the traffic and buses are super slow - taxis are not an option for heading into the city unless you're making some serious cash.

If your buddy is hoping to get into an International School they might consider looking into the Certificate in Teaching Program through UniTEFL in Chiang Mai - that is if they already have a degree. Btw, it's an accredited university program through a Philippine uni.

I have a colleague whose friend completed it and now works at one of the International schools right outside of CM. I'm considering doing this program as well - it's around 2k USD (not bad in the grand scheme of things.) If you think about the salary potential it carries with it, it could really be worth it. Not to mention you can complete it in Chiang Mai - which in my opinion is worth a lot!

Thammasat campus is nice but the route from Rangsit is indeed a bit of a dump. Future park is your standard Thai shopping mall but the area around it ergghhhh. Getting into the city from Thammasat Uni is made much easier as they have a mini van option to Mor Chit and Victory.

I lived in Rangsit for 2+ years - near Rangsit University - Muang Ake. Found it an ok area to live in. Some decent houses to rent around Rangsit University
Certainly getting into downtown Bangkok was a bit of a pain due to traffic but in reality not that much to go in for. I went in most days for work.

Future Park is indeed your typical mall and thus no different than those found downtown. Zeer for IT related stuff. Tescos and Big C Makro for shopping.
Small local markets.
Lots of small bars/restaurants around the uni. Didn't frequent the bars much but the restaurants were fine -Thai, French, Japanese, Steak. 2 Golf courses by the uni.

It reminds me of an industrialized Issan. I ride my bike around and kids stare and locals point which is something I have experienced in Sakhon Nakhon but didn't expect in greater Bangkok.

From Thammasat you have transport options. Get away from Thammasat then good luck.
