Meaningless. What or who is the QS World University Rankings? Never heard of it. What universities did they rank? Whole world? Asia only? Third world countries only? What subjects were ranked? Thai Language? Thai cooking? Buddhist studies? Totally BS survey, like most.............

World University Rankings 2012-2013 - Times Higher Education

This is the company that the QS guys used to be teamed with, and they have the top 400 universities listed there. Funnily enough, Thailand does appear with King Mongkut's University of Technology, Thonburi appearing in 351 - 400 range. I did not see any other Thai unis in the list of 399 other unis though.

Na, I'd say its all a load of bollocks, and that's why there are the differences.

A large well respected University Ranking company. I think they used to be part of the team at Times Higher Education (THE) who had differences of opinion on how best to rank, so they broke away and formed their own company.

    All, whole world.

Here's the catch, because their rankings are more customizable, usually people might be interested in the Best Uni in Asia or the best Uni for Engineering etc they allow the user to sort the rankings.

It sounds to be that the article rated the universities via subject. eg: Thai Studies, Thai Language, etc

Nothing wrong with QS or their survey, just an example of a newspaper fixing the results of the statistics that they want.

I'm not really interested in the Unis as I tend to think they are all shite. However, I am interested in the quality of the International Schools here. I know a few people recently who, with kids coming to school age, have left Thailand for other places such as HK, Sing, even KL saying the the INternational schools are a class apart from the offering in Thailand. Any basis to this?

Not really. The international schools in those places are not really any better or worse than the ones in Thailand.

How can you separate a school from its nation and culture. Thailand's people including its teachers and students are just too laid back. That gets in the schools.

They should create a survey of the universities around the world which have students with the friendliest and most caring personalities. The universities in the countryside of Thailand would rank among the highest in the world. Harvard, Princeton, Oxford and Yale would be at the bottom of the barrel. Okay they are totally different topics. Just saying.

I wonder how many of the top students and teachers in the top 10 universities in the list actually are from the nations where those schools are located. The students often make the school.
