Does anyone have a list of school terms in Thailand?

Wife wants to go on holiday with the kids, in march and seems there is a holiday then, but my sons schoolteachers are not sure when it starts or finishes

I have to go back UK in Jan and will come back when he finishes for holiday, but can't find out when, any of you good for nothing Ajarn fekkers know when?

    Thanks

I had a look on Ajarn.com, but there not sure either.

Each (Thai) school is (a little bit) different. Thai girlfriend says to speak to the schools administration.

March should be the start of a long break, but will depend on the school when the 2nd semester will end.

The girlfriend says if you give her the Thai schools name she’ll try to find the schedule on their website (if they have one).

The only one at any school that knows is the director. He calls all the shots. To show his authority he doesn't tell anyone until he wants to. It's fruitless to ask a teacher.

Dill mate, Songkran is April 13th. Most schools are off from the 2nd or 3rd week of March for about 8 weeks. This includes the Songkran holiday.

Some schools are different, ours has final exams on March 1, 4 and 5, then vacation to mid May, but plans often change.

Ralphlsasser has the best answer. In fact I doubt even the school director knows. Thais couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery, and if they could they'd turn up late.

    dead right

our recent exp, daughter started back at school on Thursday 1 Nov after 2 weeks off, home that night with a letter from school saying school was 'in' for three days only - Thur/Fri/Mon 5th Nov then off on holiday again till Monday 19th, 2 weeks after. Thanks for the warning, a curse for people who have to arrange childcare, or as in OP' s case, trying to confirm holidays.

As for school start dates this year, the two local schools started Tues 1 May and Mon 14 May. - reflecting their different term/semester end dates one ran until 28 March, other till the week before Songkran.

    Planning!

Ain't that the truth, don't know how many times I've only found out the children have some special activity or event when I'm waiting for them to show up for class and they don't.

lack of forward planning; daughter home last night with two letters, one requesting items for the 29 monks at school this morning. I suggested 29 cans of beer, but told individual bags of rice, sugar, salt, noodles were appropriate. I'd like to consult the monks about that.

Second letter notifying parents they are to be at school this morning 9-11am for a tutorial on using the new tablet computers that children will be issued with today. Can't be done, wife will be at work 25km drive away.
Would guess many of the parents have little or no literacy, the idea of giving them a brief 'intro to computers' from someone who probably doesn't know much about them either . . .

How are other parents here coping with the tablets? My concerns are (for 7yr old) in no particular order, are they ffffing useless, will they break easily, who pays if they break, do other kids steal someone else's when their one goes bang?

Oh, and there are two more days holiday next week for our school.

Well your lucky you get letters we have to listen to the grapevine.

Last year the changed the kids roster, we have three different types of clothing for school, on two different days all the kids from son's school returned home as they all had wrong clothes on, someone forgot to inform kids and parents

I'm in Surin so I am near your kids if they are in Yaso. The schools are screwed up and can't seem to confirm anything 100% until it happens. I can say that the primary schools usually seem to run until the end of March while the high schools do let their kids go a bit earlier. The last year the school had some sort of standard achievement tests for some high schoolers after the finals in March so the school year dragged on because of that. The Thai teachers themselves don't officially get their summer until April 1.
