I see it like this too. He was not bright but he knew his people well and chose the right advisers. And I see him as honest.

Very much so, dumb that is. She would be elected and her handlers would call the shots, that's bad but the best that could happen with her as president. However she may escape their control and noone knows what happens then.

She would get the gun vote.
She would get the religious right vote.
She would get the old white male vote.
She would get the racist vote.
She would get the anti-islam vote.
She would get the anti-abortion vote.
She would get the creationist vote.
She would get the military family vote.
She would get the female vote.

I think she would be a very formidable candidate. Scary scenario for the U.S.

But she'd be a lame duck even earlier in her presidency than Obama is.

    I hope...

McCain thought the same I'm sure when he made the fatal error choosing her as his VP. Things didn't work out so well for him. Granted her popularity among gun vote, religious right, and the rest has increased but they will likely vote Republican anyway no matter who runs. No way can she get any support from moderates in either party and can kiss off the libbies.

McCain would not have been elected anyway and him loosing was not only due to his choice of Palin IMO, there has been a generation-shift in Americans choice of president, look at the age of Clinton - Bush - Obama when first elected, the days of very old Presidents is over, if one of the sides choses a candidate over 60 - 70 they are at an immediate disadvantage.

Off course you'd think that having been spoon fed an unprecedented amount of horseradish from main stream media.

There will be sometime soon when Palin's politics will stand on their own merits and the spurious and malicious personal attacks on her will be diminished.

Compare that to how MSM was essentially a fawning cheer-leading squad when it came to Obama. The contrast was dramatic to say the least.
It was unfortunate Palin wasn't better prepared for those two early interviews with Couric and Gibson.
If McCain and Palin were administrating the country it's unlikely the USA would be so rapidly increasing it's status as a debtor nation which is eroding personal wealth at an unprecedented rate.
Currently at least Palin offers a glimmer of hope regarding fiscal responsibility. Where as Obama cant seem to print and spend funny money fast enough effectively killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

I wonder if Chris Matthews still get's a thrill up his leg when Obama speaks?

Good point. Things were looking grim and he needed a big slash to gain some ground on Obama. His choice of Palin as VP did make a big slash but doubt it really made much difference in the end and may have cost a few moderate Republican votes.

The days of the wise old elder statesman winning a Presidential election are over. Votes are cast based more on popularity defined by media exposure, sound bites, attractiveness, charisma and all sorts of other reasons. Platforms and agenda are but side notes.

In the end, all boils down to one critical factor. The candidate who has the most money to spend on the campaign wins.

I just watched Sarah Palin's Alaska and I have to say she is a nutter and I hope she does not run. As much as I hate Obama....well I guess I would vote for a nutter over him.

Which is part of the reason that electorates are by state. Mass extremists in a few states are balanced as their votes only count in that state.

When he stumbles, it’s not a problem. Because when our president slips up and says something like “….57 states”, we all know that he has slipped up.

When the snowbilly makes a statement like “…we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies”,….most of us know she doesn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground.

    Page 397, from Game Change,…….

In the days leading up to an interview with ABC News’ Charlie Gibson, aides were worried with Ms. Palin’s grasp of facts. She couldn’t explain why North and South Korea were separate nations and she did not know what the Federal Reserve did. She also said she believed Saddam Hussein attacked the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.

Apparently you have been staying current with the event's of the past couple of years.
Palin had much more executive experience than Obama prior to the 2008 elections.

What exactly were the executive qualifications of the junior senator from Illinois?

Clearly you've established a double standard

Even to date the only accomplishment Obama can lay claim to is how he ran an outstanding campaign and miraculously got elected.
Once in office he and his Chicago cronies got caught with their pants down.
Bowing to the Japanese emperor like that.

Yep and when Obama fumbles he doesn't have the media go off on a feeding frenzy as if it was another Abu Ghraib.

The tirades against Palin have been unprecedented. Especially when you consider how the media virtually ignores Joe Bidden and his endless stream of enormous gaffes.
You really gotta be a dunce cap to buy into the MSM agenda of tearing Palin apart.

I agree. Palin scares the shit of the leftie liberals. After all she is not ugly, lesbian, disabled or a member of a minority. She can make a pretty decent speech
without a teleprompter, and she exudes patriotism (which has become very unpopular with the left) I kinda like her as a person, but I think she "gushes" too much and overdoes the "Hockey Mom" bit. I don't believe she has what it takes to be president. Sorry I just can't see her having any credibility internationally, and that is of critical importance these days. She makes great window dressing and she could be a useful asset in a support role. I think many voters like her but if it came to electing her for the top job they would chicken out. Donald Trumph is making noises about running and there is someone who would have a serious shot at the job...like him or not. But who knows, strange things happen in politics.
Sara definitely won't win the California vote...

No, she's just plain dumb, and ignorant. In a media packaged folksy, homespun sort of way.
She can be a cheerleader for the teabaggers, but hardly a senior politician. She quit, midstream.
Bristols' dancing with the stars, Todd's being a bohunk for playboy, Sarah's pretending she can fish and hunt on a Reality TV show.
I think we've seen quite enough of the Palin clan.
