He did a lot for his state. RIP.

JUNEAU, Alaska -- A plane carrying former Sen. Ted Stevens and ex-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe crashed near a remote fishing village in Alaska, killing the longtime senator and at least four others, authorities said Tuesday.

Family spokesman Mitch Rose said Tuesday that Stevens, 86, was among five people killed in the crash of a small aircraft near Dillingham, about 325 miles southwest of Anchorage.

Former NASA spokesman says ex-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe survived the crash.

I confess. Us canucks a bad bunch. Alaskans never would smash a cute wee seal on the head. They prefer shooting moose, elk and the like from helicopters.

Ted Stevens was great at getting earmarks for Alaska.

He pushed through a cozy mail distribution bill that was tailor made to help his buddy who owns Frontier airlines. The redistribution of mail caused the company I flew for and many others to fold. Causing a glut of pilots and wages being cut.
It's fitting he died in a small plane crash.
He fucked up a lot of the small airlines up there.

He was indeed but seems all US politicians are in business of getting bills passed which send fed funds to their home states. Stevens was a master at it.

He was in charge of the Way & Means Committee for quite awhile.
