Thread: the drudge report

i think most people who post on this part forum are familiar with the drudge report.

its owner provides very little of his own content, and instead links to anti-democrat news stories, and others issues that will get the conservative base riled up. drudge shot to fame in 1998 when he 'broke' the monica lewinsky scandal.

he gets around 3 million unique visitors a day, but wields considerable power in political and media circles.

the thing is, however, that so many of his stories are either misleading or just flat out wrong. if he were a 'old' media company, he would have been out of business a long time ago.

for example, his screaming headline today says that bill ayers and jeremiah wright are on the white house visitors list.

and it's true, they are.

but they're not the same bill ayers and jeremiah wright that caused trouble for obama during last year's campaign.


so, what do you think of drudge and his website? is he a journalist or a muckraker?

drudge changed his headline....ayers and wright are no longer listed. now it's a couple of celebrities.
this kind of crap goes on all the time.
i just can't understand why this guy wields so much influence.

the campaign has no idea who this guy is, but drudge put the headline that he's a staffer.

Matt Drudge certainly does expose the hypocrisy and corruption of the Democrat establishment but by being so selective about his subject matter he's nothing more than an entertaining propagandist. He's just Rush Limbaugh in a different medium. Drudge is a self-described 'populist' but in reality he's a neo-con Republican Zionist of the vilest sort. Ever notice how much muckraking he does against neo-con Republicans or the Israelis? Since Obama's election, the Drudge Report has become more hateful, paranoid and anti-government. If the social fabric of America ever unravels completely, we can thank assholes and parasites like Matt Drudge for stirring up the most ignorant, angry and violent fringes of society.

Drudge is actually an Ok site if you ignore the Headlines- it provides links to many different media outlets, not necessarily Right Wing. Why, it even links to the 'libbie' NY Times, HuffPost and Guardian.

Why? There is no allegation that they were The Wright and Ayers. As noted above, even Drudge dropped it.

yes, it's true that he does provide links to a lot of different sources....many of which i wouldn't normally come across.

but i think you'll notice that when he does link to the NY times or the guardian, it's usually on a negative story for democrats or liberals.

so much for the 'liberal' media.

Drudge is a propagandist. His propaganda encouraged the war in Iraq. He has the blood of US soldiers and innocent blood on his keyboard.

I guess Jane Fonda doesn't blog there.
