What incredible ignorance you show making such a statement. The man was a PHD and a professor. He was wearing a suit. None of those things could lead someone to think he LOOKED like a coke dealer. If he was white O'reilly would have never said that. It came down to the color of his skin. That is out and out racism no matter how you want to spin it.

You right wing crackers are something else. Not only is fox news racist but so are you and you just proved it.

Who cares what the man was wearing, I watched the segment live, O'Reilly, IN JEST, said he looked like a coke dealer, at that point they both chuckled. No wonder you are such an idiot when it comes to real life. It was in jest as I said you can take issue and spin it any way you want but in this case you are dead wrong.

Since you used cracker in describing white conservatives, if a black man calls a white man cracker is that racism.

Scott Wiener: 'Fox News Is A Fringe Propaganda Machine'

Scott Wiener: 'Fox News Is A Fringe Propaganda Machine'

D8 Supervisor Scott Wiener on his beloved Muni. Shot by Dennis Hearne for Streetsblog.
"Did you hear what Scott Wiener did? He's an American hero!" a friend IMed to me today. No, the District 8 Supervisor/Senate hopeful didn't save a puppy from a burning building or poach a perfect egg, but he did make a move that got a lot of applause: he totally blew off Fox News.

Wiener tells SFist that the notoriously conservative channel sent emissaries to San Francisco's City Hall last week as anti-Sanctuary City sentiment reached a fevered national pitch around the Pier 14 slaying of Kate Steinle at the hands of undocumented man Francisco Sanchez.

When they tried to talk to Wiener, who many might describe as one of the Board's more conservative members, Wiener told them where they could put their mics. Take a look:
This elected official has the appropriate response to Fox News' chicanery: pic.twitter.com/TVmPr0id0o
    — Angelo Carusone (@GoAngelo) July 15, 2015
Wiener's clearly proud of the moment, tweeting about it later in the day with some VERY pointed air quotes.
I made #FoxNews, telling the "reporter" that I wouldn't talk to him on immigration b/c "Fox News isn't real news." https://t.co/JBmbkTMJnT
    — Scott Wiener (@Scott_Wiener) July 15, 2015
Over the phone today, Wiener tells SFist that Fox "has been stalking members of the Board of Supervisors for about a week," going to Board members' homes and even showing up for (honestly, kind of dry) media events like a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Presidio Parkway.

"I happened to be in City Hall last Friday, and they were lurking in the hallway...and that's when I said what I said.

"As any member of the press can tell you, I'm extremely accessible even with people I disagree with," Wiener said, naming a couple of San Francisco's agenda-driven journalists.

"But Fox News isn't a news outlet, it's a fringe propaganda machine that has taken a horrific and nightmarish tragedy and used it to fan the flames of anti-immigration."

Wiener says that even before the current issue hit the conservative consciousness, "I always had a blanket rule: no Fox News," even when asked.
"Any time Fox News is covering San Francisco, it is always to lambast the city. I'm not going to be a party to that."

The Fox reporter who approached Wiener wasn't the only one who faced wrath over the Steinle slaying: yesterday during an episode of Fox's The Five, host Geraldo Rivera told co-hosts Eric Bolling and Jesse Waters "You’re lucky that you’re my friend, I’d knock you out right now" as the trio argued over who is "exploiting" Steinle’s death more.

I'm not kidding. Here's the exchange:

And speaking of Trump (which we have been trying our damnedest not to as we cover this case), Steinle's brother Brad told Anderson Cooper yesterday that the presidential hopeful "was inappropriately using her without as much as calling the family to express condolences," CNN reports.

"Donald Trump talks about Kate Steinle like he knows her," he said.
"I've never heard a word from his campaign manager, I've never heard a word from him. It's disconcerting. I don't want to be affiliated with someone who doesn't have the common courtesy to reach out and ask about Kate, and our political views and what we want."

"Sensationalizing it is not the route we would like to go," he told Cooper.
"If you're going to use somebody's name and you're going to sensationalize the death of a beautiful young lady, maybe you should call and talk to the family first and see what their views are."

Fox News resembles the Confederacy. It caters to a declining demographic that has lost every major war (both cultural & military), and compensates for that with windbaggery and exaggerated affront. It acts as it's own best parody, which may even explain part of it's appeal.

I love the fact that people out on both sides of the political spectrum take it so seriously- and so does Prince Rupert.

Fox News Poll: Reshuffling of GOP field, many agree with Trump on immigration

The latest Fox News national poll finds another reshuffling in the race for the 2016 Republican nomination, as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker gets a post-announcement bump and businessman Donald Trump claims more of the spotlight.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton still dominates the Democratic race. Yet the poll also warns trouble may be ahead for her.

Among Republican primary voters, Trump captures 18 percent. He’s closely followed by Walker at 15 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 14 percent. No one else reaches double-digits.

This Man Took On Fox News And Became A Hero To His City

    by Judd Legum Jul 15, 2015 6:35pm

Scott Wiener, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, knew Fox News was lurking.

“They’ve been stalking various members of the board of supervisors for the last week. They went to someone’s home. One of my colleagues said they were following her around in her district last week,” Wiener told ThinkProgress in a phone interview.

Fox News became interested in local San Francisco politicians like Wiener after the murder of Kathryn Steinle by an undocumented immigrant. Fox saw this as an opportunity to point the blame at the Board Of Supervisors for making San Francisco a “sanctuary city” that does not actively seek the deportation of undocumented immigrants. Or, as Wiener put it, Fox News is trying to “take advantage of a horrific crime to bash immigrants.”

When Fox News finally ambushed him in the hallway, Wiener knew what he was going to do. He didn’t want to answer the questions because he knew Fox News was not going to make a good faith effort to cover the issue. He didn’t want to just duck his head and hide, because he knew how that looked on TV. So he addressed Fox News directly: “Fox News is not real news. And you’re not a real reporter.”
This elected official has the appropriate response to Fox News' chicanery: pic.twitter.com/TVmPr0id0o
    — Angelo Carusone (@GoAngelo) July 15, 2015
This short clip has made Wiener a hero in his city. The response in San Francisco has been “overwhelmingly and enthusiastically positive. People are thrilled. There is such a deep seated frustration with Fox News and the fringe it represents,” Wiener said, saying he’d also received messages of support from around the country.
He emphasized that he’s fine talking with reporters from conservative outlets, just not Fox News, which he puts in a different category. He regularly takes calls from Deborah Saunders, a very conservative local columnist.

Response from Fox News fans has been less positive. His social media feed has been flooded with “really extreme fringe hateful” posts. His office voicemail is also filled to capacity.

Still, Wiener has no regrets. Fox News is a “propaganda machine, nothing more and nothing less,” Wiener said.

You Can Thank Fox News for the Rise of Donald Trump

When Donald Trump takes center stage at the first Republican presidential primary debate Thursday night, he will likely begin his remarks by issuing the standard thank you to Fox News for hosting the event. But he really should be thanking the conservative news network for a whole lot more than that.
It's no secret that Fox News both boosts the GOP and wields significant influence over the party—the so-called Fox News Effect. It covers the news that Republicans want covered long after the mainstream media have moved on (Benghazi! IRS targeting! Planned Parenthood tapes!). But the network, where many Republican voters get most of their news, is also partly responsible for setting the party's agenda and boosting its major players, including Trump. And by helping Trump maneuver to the front of the GOP pack and putting him in the spotlight Thursday night, Fox may be doing significant damage to the party it has long favored.
When the Republican National Committee assigned Fox the first of up to 12 primary debates, it also gave the network the ability to choose the debate format and qualification criteria. (The RNC says that because it is neither an 501(c)(3) nor a media outlet, it is not legally allowed to set the terms of the debate under federal election law.) Fox decided to cap participation from the large GOP field of candidates at 10, determined by who was polling the highest—according to the polls Fox chose to use. The candidate with the highest poll numbers will be center stage Thursday night. Trump's numbers are nearly double those of Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, who occupy the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.
Several of the candidates on the debate stage Thursday night owe much of their success to the network, either as frequent guests or as hosts of Fox News shows. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee built his brand with the help of his own Fox News show. Ohio Gov. John Kasich hosted "From the Heartland with John Kasich" on Fox from 2001 to 2007. And then there's Trump, who has been a frequent guest for over a decade, giving his thoughts on the news of the day, including his own past flirtations with running for president. Recently, New York magazine's Gabriel Sherman reported that Fox News CEO Roger Ailes "is pushing Fox to defend Trump’s most outlandish comments." In June, Fox gave Trump more coverage than any other candidate, according to Sherman.
"I don't think there's any question that they essentially made Trump, because going back several years now they would invite him on quite often to discuss political issues, and in the process made him a political figure," says Bruce Bartlett, a former Reagan administration official and a critic of the Republican Party's recent ideological move to the right. "Trump is sort of the most obvious example in which Fox is exercising outside influence on the Republican electoral process. I think without Fox, he would not be running, let alone a serious candidate."
Kevin Arceneaux, a political scientist at Temple University, says Fox's influence over the debate—and its role in making Trump a front-runner—is part of a larger trend of the declining power of parties in choosing their own nominees. In the 2008 book "The Party Decides," four political scientists demonstrated that for the past several decades, the candidate in both parties favored by the party's elites—members of Congress, governors, and influential local party leaders—always won the nomination. The parties, the book argues, "scrutinize and winnow the field before voters get involved, attempt to build coalitions behind a single preferred candidate, and sway voters to ratify their choice." And since the 1970s, they have been successful. But Arceneaux believes that may change this year as parties cede power to the media and the billionaire donors who have emerged since 2010, when the Supreme Court struck down limits on outside election spending in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. "The parties still set the rules for how nominations take place," he says. "But they have a bit more competition at the table saying who should be the standard bearer for the party."
To Bartlett, the question is not whether Fox is influential, but whether its influence is good or bad for the GOP. In an academic paper earlier this year, Bartlett posited that the network, which once gave voice to the party's agenda, may now be directing that agenda to the detriment of the party. He called it a "self-brainwashing" that has pushed the party to the right, making it harder for Republicans to win presidential elections.
The RNC has voiced support for how Fox News has organized the first debate, but the setup could inadvertently highlight the party's weaknesses. Making Trump the face of the party Thursday night might hurt the GOP "if only because of his toxic effect on Latinos," a critical voting block in several swing states, says Bartlett. Trump alienated many Latinos when he suggested undocumented immigrants from Mexico are "rapists."
"If I was a Democrat, I'd just stand back—I'd do everything in my power to make Trump the face of the Republican Party," Bartlett says. "Not that they have to make much effort."
Whatever the outcome for the GOP, it's all good news for Fox. The network is, after all, a for-profit business, and putting Trump on stage will drive up viewership. "I'll be watching," says Bartlett. "I wouldn't be watching if Trump wasn't there, I guarantee you."

Fox has a business to run, and they know Trump keeps the angry racist old white men up past their bed time.

Eventually they'll trash him, and the only miscalculation they might have made is that out of spite he'll run as an independent and ruin the GOP campaign.

He doesn't care, it's all the more publicity for him, and he sucks it up.

If Trump runs as an independent, he will lose for sure. Is he going to chance being known as a loser for the rest of his life? I don't think he will do it.

Yes, but he can blame the Republican party for undermining him. He's good at blaming other people for his failings.

Post #1830 with Eric Bolling and Geralda Rivera.

Two people yelling, and yelling at the same time.

No facts really. A couple of facts, but just loud hot air.

As for Rivera he has sensationalized issues many times, even creating them, when he had his own show years ago.

Now, I can't say, because I don't watch Fox (except for the excerpts here on the forum).

From the Washington Post @ http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/p...her-wherever/:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Friday night that Fox News Channel anchor Megyn Kelly "had blood coming out of her eyes" when she aggressively questioned him during Thursday's presidential debate.

"She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions," Trump said in a CNN interview. "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off base."

In Thursday's debate, Kelly questioned Trump over his history of offensive statements about women.

Calling in to CNN for a 30-minute interview on Friday night with Don Lemon, Trump hurled insults at Kelly, calling her a "lightweight," and bashed her co-moderators, Chris Wallace and Bret Baier, as well as other Fox talent.

"I just don't respect her as a journalist," Trump said of Kelly. "I have no respect for her. I don't think she's very good. I think she's highly overrated."

Trump said he is considering skipping the next debate hosted by Fox News Channel, scheduled for January in Iowa, because he believes he was treated unfairly by the network's moderators.

    Folks,

    You're missing the point.

In the US, people don't run as an Independent to win - they run as an Independent to send a message - and a way to completely alter the election, depending on the states and demographics involved.
