I watch Al Jazeera quite a bit. It's always interesting to flip between FOX and AJ.....to get the full, fair and balanced version of things....

AJ has lots of very good debates where an attempt is made to get input from people who seem to know at bit about the subject and also have different views. The actual news coverage is mostly very good indeed...although FOX is usually way ahead with the breaking news.

Actually FOX is nowhere near as bad as people say....it's just the "Fox and friends" bullshit in the morning and the bombastic opinion shows like Hannity that taints it a bit, but that's when you switch over to AJ or a good romping Thai soap opera..... The actual Fox news sections are pretty good and always right on top of things.

Some (actually many) of the AJ documentaries are a bit slanted, but usually well done. They tend to whinge quite a bit, but they have a lot of British staff so that comes naturally....

All in all...a good channel and probably about the best of what's available in LOS.....at least for me.

All depends on were you live in LOS whether you can receive it or not. Fox News isn't available with True either nor the Asia News Channel which is pretty good too.

Please be careful. Extensive tests in controlled environments have shown that watching Foxnews can lower your IQ by 10% per hour.

Talking about the DOJ Scandal and James Rosen of Fox News - it now appears that Eric Holder himself signed off on the search warrant.

"Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday."

It's a strong possibility. Obama now has Holder investigating Holder. Is this beyond farcical or what?

And, looking beyond the James Rosen/DOJ Scandal, perhaps Mainstream Media will take a closer look at Operation Fast & Furious which Holder's stonewalled.

    Roger Ailes responds:

"The recent news about the FBI’s seizure of the phone and email records of Fox News employees, including James Rosen, calls into question whether the federal government is meeting its constitutional obligation to preserve and protect a free press in the United States. We reject the government’s efforts to criminalize the pursuit of investigative journalism and falsely characterize a Fox News reporter to a Federal judge as a “co-conspirator” in a crime. I know how concerned you are because so many of you have asked me: why should the government make me afraid to use a work phone or email account to gather news or even call a friend or family member? Well, they shouldn’t have done it. The administration’s attempt to intimidate Fox News and its employees will not succeed and their excuses will stand neither the test of law, the test of decency, nor the test of time. We will not allow a climate of press intimidation, unseen since the McCarthy era, to frighten any of us away from the truth."

Indeed. Looks like the scumbag lied to Congress:

This is what Holder told Congress:
“First of all you’ve got a long way to go to try to prosecute the press for publication of material. This has not fared well in American history… In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy.

NBC News reported that Eric Holder approved the search warrant for Fox News reporter’s private emails.

Well, what do you of the 'usual suspects' category think about this:

HuffPo graphically states it's time for Holder to leave the building - permanently.

Breaking News and Opinion on The Huffington Post

They didn't mention soft on Fast & Furious probably 'cause the list is so long - his malfeasance and corruption.

But since Fox News is really just a right wing propaganda organization, should their "journalists" enjoy special treatment under the law?

Let's remember the REASON why the Justice Department sought a warrant to search James Rosen's personal email:

Rosen was named as a co-conspirator in a leak investigation.

Fact is, Rosen got caught and got his source in trouble because he practiced poor journalistic tradecraft.

Rosen’s source, Stephen Jin-Woo Kim, was indicted in 2010 for disclosing national defense information.

The nature of Rosen’s report was almost guaranteed to attract attention from the intelligence establishment. The story described the CIA’s findings, “through sources inside North Korea,” of that country’s plans should an upcoming U.N. Security Council resolution pass.

There is nothing more sacred to the maintenance of democracy than a free press. Access to comprehensive, accurate and quality information is essential to the manifestation of a civically engaged, well-informed and socially invested populace.

Not only does mainstream media now tolerate gross misrepresentations of fact and history by public figures, but organizations like Fox News actually legitimize these displays.

Take the enormous amount of misinformation that is taken for truth by Fox audiences: the belief that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and that he was in on 9/11, the belief that climate change isn't real and/or man-made, the belief that Barack Obama is Muslim and wasn't born in the United States, the insistence that all Arabs are Muslim and all Muslims are terrorists, the inexplicable perceptions that immigrants are both too lazy to work and are about to steal your job. All of these claims are demonstrably false, yet Fox News viewers will maintain their veracity with incredible zeal.

If You See Any Obama Voters Today, "Do Me A Favor: Punch 'Em In The Face"

Fox's Tantaros: If You See Any Obama Voters Today, "Do Me A Favor: Punch 'Em In The Face" | Video | Media Matters for America

Not surprising that Fox News has descended to a new low by encouraging their viewers to physically assault people who voted for Obama.

Heh...don't have to look to even some obscure statement made by an legitimately outraged Fox News employee (cue the James Rosen Scandal) but right here in TD we have one of your compatriots wanting the GOP people to "Burn In Hell".
