    Gore for President

What do you think about this Snaffie ?

    Gore's 2008 Prospects

    This from George Will:
"...the likelihood that Gore will seek the presidency is suggested not only by the logic of what he says (in An Inconvenient Truth), but also by what he does not say. Given how clear and present he says the danger is, he should be more specific and radical regarding the economic, indeed civilizational changes he considers necessary. He should be -- unless he is trimming his sails and biding his time in the hope that he can acquire the presidential pulpit from which to move the nation. There is nothing wrong with that. The nobility of politics, when it is noble, often consists in prudent maneuvering and persuading until an issue is, in terms of public opinion, ripe. A luminous example of the nobility of indirection is Lincoln's protracted and incremental progress toward abolishing slavery. Dismayed by the Kansas-Nebraska Act and then the Dred Scott decision, Lincoln did not exclaim: "That does it! Instead of running for president, I am going to prepare a PowerPoint presentation.''
As I've been saying, Gore started running for President in 2008 about two seconds after conceeding in 2000. And just to completely re-state it: Gore will run in 2008, and he will secure the Democratic nomination - and then be crushed worse than McGovern was in 1972. Please note my predictions - we political prognosticators love it when we've got a sure-thing prediciton and everyone notices that we made it."

Don't know yet ... there are several possibilities. And about Mcgovern ... he couldn't win during a war like Vietnam ?

I voted for Gore last time. And I think he and his team would have done fine in the days after 9/11. If the speculation is to be believed in another forum, 9/11 might not have ever happened.

But would I vote for him again? Would I vote for Hillary? I WOULD vote for Slick Willy again. But I'd have to wait until the candidates are chosen. Maybe the Republican would be a better choice.

It's a sad state of affairs when we've got such a shit selection to choose from. Maybe that Abrama guy will be running in 2008, if they let him....

Barack Obama looks like a winner for the Demos. He needs more time learning procedures, more time gettin himself on powerful committees and he needs to sponser some legislation he can point to when it comes time to run. And he needs to establish national contacts for fund raising outside his own state. He looks to make for a strong candidate someday.

    I don't think he'll run.

    He's said he won't.

Life is going well for him now.

    I seriously doubt it.

Why should he run ? He was elected once and had the result stolen.

shouldn't he be President already if it wasn't for the Chimp stealing the election ? I bet 911 would have never happened, and that Iraq would be a safe place now.

The democrats are in trouble if that's who their top three are.
A Michael Moore/Ted Rall combination would have a better chance. And then have Woopi lead the charge!

If it is John McCain, I'll probably vote Republican this time around. Even though he is a Republican, he is from civilized state in the Union. I like how John McCain won't give in to the barbarian South on Gay Marriage and the Bush Administration on the issue of torture. He rightly points out that marriage should be decided on the state level and that the use of torture does more to undermine our effectiveness in Iraq than any information gathered. He has something the politicians on the left or right lack. Integrity. What a novel concept in the Karl Rove age.

^Yeah, I wish they would have run McCain 6 years ago. I would have voted for him then. Looking at the line-up of Democrats above, how could you NOT vote for him?

They attacked him like salvages, disrespectfully, making fun of his past, even though he survived a difficult time. I was surprised how Armchair heros like Rove and Bush could be so nasty with a so-called "war hero". Distateful. I doubt the Bush camp will leave McCain get another chance. They hate him too much for asking the right questions and reminding them what kind of cowards they were during Vietnam.

McCain spent too much time in that NVA prison camp.
    He's not the guy...

I think you'll find that McCain has been wishy-washy on the issue of torture. Lots of double-speak from him on the topic. He's a flip-flop as Butterfly mentioned.
