Josh Howard & National Anthem: Fake Issue?

Josh Howard is an NBA basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks. He made comments about the National Anthem. Now there is a lot of talk of trading him, fining him, and "punishing him."

I think this whole issue is over-rated. He made the comments to a mobile phone, which just shows that anything captured on the mobile phone can end up in the media and on youtube.

Now, the sports pundit-spin doctors, chime in.

My question fo this original post (OP) is:

Is this all a do about nothing? A waste of time? Media created hype for controversy?

Here is the video which is short, and the following hype:

    I agree.

And perhaps me even starting about thread about this, is a dog jumping for the bone.

I think I found this topic on drudge, then clicked the link, to find the talking heads to "analysis."

More than the comments, it's about the media. When I visit the US, I see talking heads discussing and speculating on Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, a topic like Josh Howard, and all kinds of silly stuff.

Since I stopped watching TV, I realize how silly so much of TV is.

    He's entitled to his opinion.

I think the National Anthem could use a make-over.

Add a few phrases like "kicked their fcukin' ass."

Or replace "rockets red glare" with "warheads on foreheads."

You know, jazz it up a bit.

It's a rather war like song.

I have been to Ft. McHenry in Baltimore a couple of times. I like history. Always have.

^ Thanks, MM. I needed that Fort word for my NY Times xword, the only item worthy of my attention from that paper.

The present US national should instead be the national poem. The tune it is 'sung' to is said to be an old English drinking song. If so then everybody must have been roaring drunk.

"America the Beautiful" should be the national song.

I think Raw-hide as sung by the Blues Brothers should be the US National Anthem.

That's already part of the Vietnamese national anthem.

Please help me, by telling me where that blind spot is, since I cannot see it.

    Thanks.

Islam/Muslims and Black American athletes are the two I remember you discussing.

    Obsidian,

My point is that the media should not be hyping this issue up at all. By this position, you say I am "supporting" this athlete, who is, Black.

Islam is not the topic, but you know where I stand, Stfranalum
