The GOP continued War on Women

Senate Republicans block pay equity bill: Senate Republicans block pay equity bill - CNN.com

An election-year Democratic measure designed to ensure that women don't face pay discrimination was blocked Tuesday by Republicans who complained that the bill was politically inspired and would reward trial lawyers at the expense of employers.

The motion, which needed 60 votes to succeed, got only 52, not one from a Republican.

And some wonder why the GOP can't attract women voters

The RNC is on fire with this latest scathing report on how the Chicago Jesus has wrecked the US economy:

Turns out they had this video up within two hours of Obama speaking how the private sector is 'doing fine'...

I like Crist (for a rethug) so I will not come down too hard on him, but I am highlighting the important finding/allegation.

Report: Charlie Crist paid men to hide gay affair (video in the link): Report: Charlie Crist paid men to hide gay affair | wtsp.com

Tallahassee, Florida - 10 News has learned of allegations of homosexual affairs, a governor trying to kiss another man, and drunken escapades by former Governor Charlie Crist.

These allegations come in the form of a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Investigative Report in the Republican Party Chair Jim Greer saga.

Jim Greer is facing criminal charges and is set to go to trial on July 30 for allegedly paying himself to raise money for the Republican Party of Florida. Greer maintains that former Governor Charlie Crist approved the deal.

Now, discovery documents released point to allegations that as Governor, Crist paid two men to leave the state to hide his homosexuality and that he was a drunk and a liar.

    snip

Greer is supposed to go to trial July 30 but many believe the Republican Party doesn't want to happen because there could be many more embarrassing allegations mostly about lying and excessive spending by party leaders including house speaker Dean Cannon, Senate president Mike Haridopolos, State Senator John Thrasher, former Senator George LeMieux and U.S. Senate Marco Rubio.

fat chance Rubio will get a call to be the VP

Charlie Crist left the Republican Party because he couldn't get elected as a Republican.

Crist was outed in 2009, and of course like a good republican he denied it-

In April 2009, Crist was one of the subjects of the documentary Outrage, which purports to out politicians who are closeted and opposed LGBT rights legislation.[82] Crist says he is heterosexual and is not gay.
Charlie Crist - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Your list of 'RINO's grows ever longer. Dick Luger, Scott Brown, Cris Cristie, jon Huntsman, the gubernator, Reagan was totally RINO, Bush snr, jeb Bush, even Romney. Isn't it a relief that you have such luminaries as Michelle Bachman, Sarah, Newt, and Rick Santorum to place your faith in.

Special election for Gabby Giffords seat.

    And then there is this,…….

Feds Sue (I’m no homo Republican) Larry Craig Over Bathroom Sex Sting Defense Cash: Ex-Sen. Larry Craig Sued Over Bathroom Sex Sting Defense Funds

Federal campaign regulators brought the hammer down on disgraced former Sen. Larry Craig on Monday, accusing him of misusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign cash to pay for his legal defense following an arrest in a Minneapolis airport bathroom sex sting.

The Federal Election Commission filed a federal lawsuit against Craig, who now works as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., asking a judge to order the former lawmaker to pay back his campaign committee more than $200,000 and stop him from raiding the committee for his own personal use.: http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/06/12/FECvCraig.pdf

this was supposed to be a big week for the GOP.

attorney general contempt vote----nobody except the extreme right wing cared

    ACA struck down by SCOTUS----whoops!

and just out of curiosity, what has the GOP done about unemployment since they took control of the house two years ago...if i remember correctly they kept saying "jobs, jobs, jobs"... so where are the jobs? i guess they're too busy waging war on women, minorities and the middle class.

    GOP's continued War on Women,......

The Governor of South Carolina is unconcerned with women in South Carolina dying from preventable cancer. This week she took steps to promote cervical cancer in South Carolina.

Nikki Haley, the Governor of South Carolina, vetoed a bill that that would help prevent the spread of the virus that can cause cervical cancer. The South Carolina legislature was unable to overturn her veto.

The measure gave optional health education and vaccines to 7th grade girls in South Carolina.

The vaccine in question prevents the spread of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The science behind the vaccine for HPV is sound. The vaccine stops the transmission of the disease that causes cervical cancer.

In 2007, as a state legislator, Nikki Haley did not just support access to the HPV vaccine; she sponsored legislation increasing access to it.

Because of her veto, South Carolina women will likely die from a preventable death. This in a state that has one of the highest rates of cervical cancer in the country.: Republicans Advances War On Women « CBS Chicago

    UN Out of Alabama!

As if anyone in their right mind would want to be in Alabama in the first place. Apparently the latest thing the loony wing of the Rethugs, which nowadays is practically all of them, is getting exercised about "Agenda 21." Read about it, it's a hoot:
Political Animal - U.N. Out of Alabama!

Alabama became the first state to adopt a tough law protecting private property and due process by prohibiting any government involvement with or participation in a controversial United Nations scheme known as Agenda 21. Activists from across the political spectrum celebrated the measure’s approval as a significant victory against the UN “sustainability” plot, expressing hope that similar sovereignty-preserving measures would be adopted in other states as the nationwide battle heats up.
The Alabama Senate Bill (SB) 477 legislation, known unofficially among some supporters as the “Due Process for Property Rights” Act, was approved unanimously by both the state House and Senate. After hesitating for a few days, late last month Republican Governor Robert Bentley finally signed into law the wildly popular measure — but only after heavy pressure from activists forced his hand.
Virtually no mention of the law was made in the establishment press. But analysts said the measure was likely the strongest protection against the UN scheme passed anywhere in America so far. The law, aimed at protecting private property rights, specifically prevents all state agencies and local governments in Alabama from participating in the global scheme in any way.

    <snip>
As I mentioned in post last month, Republican primary candidates in neighboring Georgia are attacking each other for allegedly being pawns of Agenda 21, in the context of a regional transportation sales tax referendum that might indirectly encourage one-world communist ideas like “planning” and “public transportation” and “bike paths.”

Don't you just love these qualifiers ("likely") that allow propagandists to call people they consider their enemies murderers, don't you just love them using qualifiers to call them murderers? This is an example of the subtle violence of the left.

Which they do. Also, they actually kill people. Doctors, for example. Then, when someone points out that their policies actually result in death, they go all pansy and wilt.

More than a few stories to bring this thread up to date.

First we’ll start with the Republicans continued war on women,………

Jay Townsend, GOP Spokesman: 'Let's Hurl Some Acid At Those Female Democratic Senators'

A spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) is facing criticism after advocating violence against female Democratic senators in a Facebook post.

Jay Townsend, the official campaign spokesman for the freshman representative, went on a vicious online rant on Saturday, which he began by taunting a constituent who voiced criticism about an earlier post on gas prices. "Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz," Townsend wrote.

"My question today... when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."

Fuckin’ GOP trash: Jay Townsend, GOP Spokesman: 'Let's Hurl Some Acid At Those Female Democratic Senators'

    Joe Walsh is still trash,……

Rep. Joe Walsh: Double-amputee Tammy Duckworth not a ‘true’ military hero

Tea party-favorite Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) may not have ever volunteered for military service, but he says he can spot a “true hero” and the double amputee running for his seat isn’t one.

Think Progress captured video on Sunday of Walsh telling supporters that Tammy Duckworth wasn’t a hero because “all she talks about” is losing both her legs when the helicopter she was piloting was shot down in Iraq in 2004.

I don’t think he’ll be back: Rep. Joe Walsh: Double-amputee Tammy Duckworth not a ‘true’ military hero

Even Republican appointed judges think they’re retards,…….

Reagan-appointed judge: Republican ‘lunatics’ made me less conservative

A well-respected judge who was appointed to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by President Ronald Reagan says that he has become less conservative because of “crackpots” and “lunatics” in the Republican Party.

In an interview with NPR on Thursday Judge Richard Posner said that “right-wingers” were making a serious mistake by attacking Chief Justice John Roberts for siding with liberals and upholding President Barack Obama’s health care reform law.

“Because if you put [yourself] in his position, what’s he supposed to think?” Posner wondered. “That he finds his allies to be a bunch of crackpots? Does that help the conservative movement? I mean, what would you do if you were Roberts? All the sudden you find out that the people you thought were your friends have turned against you, they despise you, they mistreat you, they leak to the press.”

“What do you do? Do you become more conservative? Or do you say, ‘What am I doing with this crowd of lunatics?’ Right? Maybe you have to re-examine your position.”

Ya think? Reagan-appointed judge: Republican ‘lunatics’ made me less conservative

If ya can’t beat ‘em, gag ‘em,………..

A Mitt Romney supporter literally silenced a chanting protester during a rally in Ohio today for the Republican presidential candidate by shoving a handkerchief into the heckler’s mouth.

Video in the link: Romney supporter gags protester with handkerchief at Ohio rally

You can’t make this stuff up,……..

Lame duck Congressman Thaddeus McCotter unexpectedly resigns

Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) resigned late on Friday following a term of nearly ten years in Congress that had ended with what he himself described as a “nightmarish month and a half” marked by scandal and ridicule.

    Snip

McCotter, whose congressional career had been capped by a long-shot bid for the Republican presidential nomination last year, had been expected to have no problems retaining his seat. However, more than 85% of the signatures on his nominating petitions were found to be invalid, some of the sheets appearing to have been photocopied multiple times from previous years’ petitions. After briefly toying with the idea of a write-in campaign, he’d announced he would retire at the end of his current term.

He’s been watching way too much FOX news: Lame duck Congressman Thaddeus McCotter unexpectedly resigns

It's the same nationwide. There is going to be some pent-up demand for workers. The banks need to start lending all that money we gave them, but mainly, housing and construction are the big issues. Part of that could be helped by much-needed infrastructure spending, but the Republicans are afraid of anything that might help Obama, country be damned. The governors used to act independently of party according to what was good for their states, but the Republican governors now are mostly good little Party members, taking orders from the Central Committee. The analogy with the Soviets is deliberate.

Indeed, couldn't have said it better myself.

    More rethug news,..

Wisconsin rethug state senator pushes bill classifying single parenthood as child abuse

Section 1. 48.982 (2) (g) 2. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 2. Promote statewide educational and public awareness campaigns and materials for the purpose of developing public awareness of the problems of child abuse and neglect. In disseminating that information, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.

    A story about a retarded Rethug governor,……

Worst TB outbreak in 20 years kept secret | www.palmbeachpost.com

The CDC officer had a serious warning for Florida health officials in April: A tuberculosis outbreak in Jacksonville was one of the worst his group had investigated in 20 years. Linked to 13 deaths and 99 illnesses, including six children, it would require concerted action to stop.

That report had been penned on April 5, exactly nine days after Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed the bill that shrank the Department of Health and required the closure of the A.G. Holley State Hospital in Lantana, where tough tuberculosis cases have been treated for more than 60 years.

    And fuck religious freedom,….

Republican Colorado lawmaker: maybe we should consider banning new mosques

Senator Kevin Grantham attended the Western Conservative Summit in Denver this past week, where Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders delivered a speech calling Islam a, “dangerous, totalitarian ideology,” and saying that to stop the threat of creeping Sharia law, American legislators should ban the construction of new mosques. In an interview with the paper after the speech, Grantham said Wilders’ fear of an Islam was “warranted,” and that his anti-mosque plan was worth hearing out.

Perry ‘proudly’ refuses health care to 1.2 million low-income Texans

Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) “proudly” declared that he will decline to implement key tenets of the Affordable Care Act — a move that will see his state forgo an estimated $164 billion dollars in federal aid and leave over 1.2 million low-income Texans, who would have finally been eligible for health care, helpless and uninsured.

And rethugs pissin’ in the wind,…..

Marsha Blackburn Wishes Republicans Would Take Meaningless Health Care Repeal Votes Every Day | Video Cafe

Apparently CNN thinks as little about wasting their viewer's time as Tennessee Rep. Marsh Blackburn thinks of wasting her constituents' time with utterly meaningless votes that are going nowhere to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They actually had this flame thrower on there for the better part of the show. Richard Socarides rightfully called Blackburn out for exactly what she and her fellow House members are doing, which is purely political theater.

Par for the course with their unwillingness to ever admit they're wrong or lying about anything, Blackburn refused to admit that's what they're doing was theater, but then proving his point, said she wished they were taking those votes every single day. If there's one thing Republicans are good at, it is theater because they sure as hell don't care about actually governing. And they continue to prove it with stunts like this one.

And a little bit of truth from one old fat white Rethug,……

GOP 12: Ed Rollins: GOP bunch of old, fat, white guys

"It is a bunch of old, white guys, and unfortunately, a lot of them are fat like me -- like Haley Barbour, my former deputy, and others.

"We need to basically broaden the base, we need to have more women, we need to have more Latinos, we need to have more African-Americans."

    Here's some more ():
“If anyone had any doubt, we wanted to put it clearly to bed that Texas wasn’t going to be a part of expanding socializing of our medicine,” he said.
    ---
How about remedial English, guv? Y'all agin that, too, or can we "put that to bed?"
    ---
“We’ve got some of the finest health care in the world,” he said. “So the idea that this federal government, which doesn’t like Texas to begin with, to pick and choose and come up with some data and say somehow Texas has the worst health care system in the world is just fake and false on its face.”

"this federal government, which doesn’t like Texas to begin with. . .say somehow Texas has the worst health care system in the world is just fake. . ." When did "cowboys" start talking like 12-year-old girls?

Yeah, good luck with that. Keep it up and you'll have a Lee Atwater, "Omigod my life was in the service of evil" deathbed apology. Speaking of Atwater, this little paragraph really sums up what the Thugs are about:

"You start out in 1954 by saying, “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968 you can't say “nigger” — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “Nigger, nigger.”"
