Yeah someone like Yang or possibly Bernie might stand a chance.
I'm not on that Trump Train and I think he's looking at only one-term as president if he keeps going the way he's going.

Intelligence warnings are growing that Russia will probably meddle in the 2020 elections, but Donald Trump and a powerful Senate ally are downplaying these concerns and not doing enough to thwart interfering, say Russia and cyber experts and key congressional Democrats.

Despite fears that Moscow may seek to influence the 2020 elections by launching cyber attacks, social media disinformation, covert agent operations and other “active measures” as it did in the 2016 election, adequate funding and White House focus to counter any new Russian meddling are lagging, experts and officials say.

America's new voting machines bring new fears of election tampering

Election security concerns that critics say require more resources and attention include: a paper ballot system to replace or backup electronic voting machines vulnerable to hacking.

Why would he try and stop the Russians meddling when they will meddle in his favour. And the thing is, anyone trying to stop it will be accused of witch-hunt, treason, spying etc.
Trump is very much with the Russians on this one.

They need a candidate for sure.
So far they all seem a bit wacky.
I really couldn't figure out why they ran Hillary last time.

I hope they don't pull the same stunt to get Biden the nomination, although apparently he does have more favourability with the African American community because of his Obama links.

However there is a schism in the Democrats at the moment between old and new.

I don't think it's anything unusual, and they have set very clear and fair criteria for what happens come the debates.

The important thing is that they don't try and fix it again. If they do that, you're right, they're doomed to alienate a ton of their own voters again.

Wall Street expects a Trump win in 2020, but a new poll points to a different outcome

It may be time for Wall Street to recalibrate expectations about the 2020 election.

In a survey of institutional investors this spring, more than 70% told RBC Capital Markets they expect President Donald Trump to win a second term in 2020.
But a new national poll of voters today points toward a different outcome.

    Key Points
    • The Quinnipiac Poll showed the top Democratic candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, leading Trump by a double-digit margin in a potential 2020 matchup.
    • But it also found that five other Democratic contenders – every one the poll pitted against Trump – leading the president as well.
    • That strong Democratic edge in potential 2020 contests came despite a slight uptick in Trump’s approval rating and continued satisfaction with the state of the economy.

The Quinnipiac Poll showed the top Democratic candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, leading Trump by a double-digit margin in a potential 2020 matchup. But it also found that five other Democratic contenders – every one the poll pitted against Trump – leading the president as well.

Biden, who plans to blast Trump in a speech tonight as both politicians campaign in Iowa, held the largest lead, 53%-40%. He built it with decided advantages among women, independents, college educated whites, non-whites, and young voters.

but it really is early days....iowa isn't for 8 months. IMO, the debates this summer and early fall are going to whittle down the candidates to 15-16. i'd be surprised if there were a dozen candidates still active going into NH...and after SC it will be cut down to less than half that.....after super tuesday in early march and there's at most 3 left standing.....and that's 8 months before the general.

the key for the dems is stay focused on the primary objective and unify after the primaries....and i think/hope that's what is going to happen.

Well they're not. For the umpteenth time for the stupid, Clinton was bang on the money as far as the national vote was concerned.

But there isn't an election now, is there?

Warren leapfrogs Sanders in pair of 2020 polls

Elizabeth Warren leaped ahead of Bernie Sanders into second place in a pair of Democratic presidential primary polls released Wednesday.

Warren has overtaken Sanders nationally, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll, which puts the Massachusetts senator ahead of her Vermont counterpart 16 percent to 12 percent. Former Vice President Joe Biden still leads all contenders with 26 percent support.

Warren also polls ahead of Sanders in Nevada, where Democrats will caucus next February after the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

It seems the first mass debates are in two weeks and only 20 have qualified. Which is nice, because there are only 2 x 10 debate places.

Steve Bullock, Mike Gravel and Seth Moulton failed to make the cut.

Problem was the national vote is only part of electing a U.S. president, guess that wasn’t taken into consideration.

Yeah, get more votes and lose the election.

    Makes perfect sense.
