Echoing disputes over Cecil Rhodes in RSA and General Lee the Kiwi Iwi have chosen to remove Cook, obviously some of their top types have relocated to C mai amongst some of Lannas sub tribes etc

I wonder if they want all the western medicine and technology erased too?

Local iwi in Gisborne are welcoming a decision by the Gisborne District Council to remove a statue of Captain Cook from the top of their ancestral mountain Titirangi.
Speaking on behalf of local iwi Ngāti Oneone, Barney Tupara said: "Since long ago the subtribes and tribes have disagreed with this statue being here on our mountain on Titirangi."
Known as the Cook Plaza, the bicentennial commemorative statue and wall have been opposed by local iwi since its inception in 1969.
