    Lost his job at Harvard.....

Under pressure from students and alumni, Harvard Law School announced Monday that Judge Brett Kavanaugh would not teach his scheduled course in January.

“Today, Judge Kavanaugh indicated he can no longer commit to teaching his course in January Term 2019, so the course will not be offered,’’ the law school’s curriculum committee wrote in an email to students.

Because he expects to be too busy as a Supreme Court judge?

Or because he thinks he might be hired as president Trump's next personal lawyer?

There is an inherent conservative v. progressive interpretation in many but not all issues facing courts. It is the same in all countries. There is nothing inherently impartial or apolitical about the processes for selecting judges in other countries. The US is just more open about it. In the US federal judgeships are appointed by people who hold elective office. State and local judges are elected directly. Holding political opinions does not preclude that a judge cannot be impartial. There are some high profile issues that have become politicized and that is where the problem arises.

Of course there is. In NZ for example, the positions a appointed based on curriculum vitae, as with any job.

Not posting on Cyrille's behalf here, but I am trying to get my head around that double, or is it treble, negative?
All judges must be impartial, otherwise the justice system is loaded. Judges make decisions based on law, not on political affiliations, religious holdings, or emotional feelings....it's why the position is called "honourable".
An honourable judge will and must recuse him/herself if they know they may be biased in any case.

No SCOTUS is nominated to be apolitical. Problem is Kavanaugh would tip the scales with no imminent departures that could be replaced to counterbalance for the next decade or so. And assuming Trump has another 6 years since there doesn't appear to be any serious challengers for 2020, esp if he will does well in the midterms, that's long enough for a Rep-leaning SCOTUS to make quite a few contentious decisions.

Same before I think the Dems need to replace the decaying icons with new talent, lots of it around though the oldies won't let go easily. As it stands the bright up and coming blood is being neglected in favour of nepotism and cheerled hope and bluster leaving little to seriously challenge Trump in 2020.

You clearly are out of touch with what is going on in American politics. The democratic primaries will be loaded with faces old and new many of whom are polling as favorites in a race against Trump.

The GOP will happily give up two years control of the houses so they have something to attack come 2020.

It's not like they can do anything without baldy orange cunto's signature, is it?

I do not think that it will do much good. 2020 will probably be the highest turnout election since Obama won in 2008 which itself was the highest turnout since 1968 and as you know the GOP can not win in high turnout elections. Not anymore at least. Dems are mad and they will stay mad until the cheeto in chief is out of office and hopefully in a prison cell.

None of those bimbos on your list will ever make it to the top unless the worn and withered icons beat it, vamooze, back away, scarper, leave, piss/fcuk/bugger off to give them a clean run, rather than offer tickets only to those that will parrot the same old same old promise of utopia. Your numbers are delusional, just as Clinton's were two years ago, precisely as demonstrated then and now by the Dem attraction to hollow cheerleading over reality on the ground and the cool calm focus of the voting booth. Now you deserve a frantic google for more numbers to substantiate the same folly.

According to your latest hint of a troubled mind the "won't leave the trough" Sanders, Biden and even Pocahontas would wipe the floor with Trump today, though the best of your best imploded against Clinton back then, which begs the question why your utterly reliable source hasn't added her to the list for a glorious fantasy feast of 90-10 that similarly troubled minds can jizz over.

You keep demonstrating the same symptom of that foolish New Age progressive mindset, that everything Dems do must be right because baldy cunto is evil and so any criticism of them or their strategy must be challenged and blasted away.

And oh the irony, that same abject refusal to admit error, take stock and consider alternatives are just some of the very reasons I believe Trump will win in 2020, which according to your blind and rather dumb faith makes me guilty of crimes against humankind, right?

Kavanaugh then: '...[The Court] must never be viewed as a partisan institution'

Kavanaugh now: *Hold my beer...* '...This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups...'

Like I said you really need to stick with the muslim threads because you know fuck all what you are talking about. If Bernie Sanders would have been the Democratic nominee in 2016 like he should have Drumpf would have lost in a landslide. You simply do not understand the demographic issues that the GOP faces in high turnout elections. I will remind you that Drumpf lost the popular vote even to a very unpopular candidate in Hillary.

Bernie will destroy Drumpf in 2020 as he has an even more effective and real (unlike the fraud that Drumpf is) populist platform. Also it is important to note that back at this time in 2006 a month before the midterms no one had a clue who Obama was and Hillary was the favorite that everyone was talking about. It is still early and some new blood can still rise to the top just like Obama did.

In a month when the Dems have taken back the house and perhaps the Senate maybe you will wake up to reality.

Just curious are you a Brexiter?

Gee, thanks for reminding me, do you mean the very unpopular Hillary candidate that wiped the floor with Sanders, who now holds your top spot?

Has anyone ever told you you're scary?

blah blah...It is still early and some new blood can still rise to the top just like Obama did.
We're getting there...sure it could, but as I pointed out with a whooosh, not unless the icons shed the same pathetic mindset you demonstrated in the post we were discussing, and before, and since.

In a month when the Dems have taken back the house and perhaps the Senate maybe you will wake up to reality.
Yes of course everything you fantasise "could" happen, but only if the gods back off, take stock, realise they are fallible, and piss off to give that new blood a chance on merit, rather than groom them to be tainted with the same DNA.

Otherwise after the 2020 election you will be visiting loonwatch again, this time to rummage for some magical dumbass 'facts' that allow the herd to turn abject defeat into victory.

And I insist, last word goes to...you!

Only with a two thirds vote in both houses and that ain't gonna happen unless it's Bipartisan legislation.

In this unedifying spectacle seems sure one of them is lying, or could it be both, the 3rd man was the assailant but the victim chooses to have a go at the "other" judge.

Very odd body langage , all of which a big distraction for the huge American debt spiral, a big war, hyperinflation or more QE looks the only way out.

So she wiped the floor? What planet are you living on? I will not be bothered to remind you of the inherently unfair structure of the DNC primary system. The difference now is that people know who Bernie is and that will make a massive difference this time around. Your ignorance is painful.
