Over the past years, there have been minorities in public locations, either for speaking their native language, doing their job, or having a different skin color.

These incidents are almost always rooted in bigotry, which in turn is brought about by a lack of education. However, if one ever needed an astute example of how poorly educated some Americans can be,

one is welcome to look at the latest viral instance of an American criticizing a supposed “non-American.

” On July 7, 2018, a video was published on Facebook from the perspective of a woman who was legally renting an area for a birthday party. In said video, she was approached by an older white man, identified as

Timothy G. Trybus, 62 of Illinois, who proceeded to verbally abuse her for wearing a shirt with the Puerto Rican Flag on it, due to it apparently being un-American. Despite the fact that the Puerto Rican flag is clearly

derivative of the American flag, bearing the same red, white, and blue, and a white star, which you’d think any idiot could figure out. But, not this idiot, it seems.

However, as the woman calmly informed him, Puerto Rico is actually a part of the United States: it’s an unincorporated territory, though there has been a strong push for statehood. Though President Trump apparently

didn’t know which territories he’s the President of, and clearly didn’t care much about Puerto Rico, either.

Trybus was not having any of it. He instead chose to continue berating her, telling her that she was “not going to change us”. That racist statement is not very dissimilar from the chants of neo-nazi marchers who chanted

“you will not replace us,” and “Jews will not replace us,” as well as “blood and soil” in Charlottesville, and watching the video it seems to come from the same sentiment. Aside from that bit of racist commentary, the man

(Trybus) also stalked her, and aggressively got uncomfortably close to her.

You can agree with "brother" dave, to your own heart's content. The facts are , the imperfect inner-workings of Thai society, is none of my citizenship business.

Perhaps, if more U.S. citizen expats, ever comprehended that fact, then posters, like this threads OP, wouldn't find a need to post any "reality news", to begin with.

Actually, it's well known that I believe in the Broad Church philosophy.

A variety of Posters, offering alternative views can be good for a forum, otherwise we fall into the trap of having a
myopic view on the world.

However ...

This is a Thai based Forum and a lot of the issues you wish to discuss have limited or no appeal.

Your writing style is annoying to me as in you present a topic, but rely too heavily on a YouTube etc to espouse your view
and that doesn't cut the mustard here.

Have an original thought, present it, debate it, defend it and make it relevant to a Thai based Forum.
