China makes a big move in the M.E.

This is interesting. Not sure whether it should be here or News.
Looks like the Chinese are moving in. First come the big loans then the demand for repayment.
The loans are usually tied to infrastructure projects with a requirement that the suppliers should be Chinese.

BEIJING: The UAE is participating in the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, which kicked-off on Tuesday in Beijing, in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and a number of high-level delegations from Arab states, and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.
Xi pledged a package of $20 billion in loans, and about $106 million in financial aid, to Middle East nations, as part of what he called an “oil and gas plus” model to revive economic growth in the region.
China would offer aid worth 100 million yuan ($15 million) to Palestine to support economic development, besides providing a further 600 million yuan ($91 million) to Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, he added.
Development was key to resolving many security problems in the Middle East, Xi told a gathering with representatives of 21 Arab nations in the Chinese capital.
“We should treat each other frankly, not fear differences, not avoid problems, and have ample discussion on each aspect of foreign policy and development strategy,” he said.
A consortium of banks from China and Arab nations, with a dedicated fund of $3 billion, will also be set up, Xi added. said.
It was unclear what the relationship between the bank consortium, financial aid and the overall loan package would be.
The loans will fund a plan of “economic reconstruction” and “industrial revival” that would include cooperation on oil and gas, nuclear and clean energy, Xi said.
He urged “relevant sides” to respect the international consensus in the Israel-Palestine dispute, and called for it to be handled in a just manner, so as to avoid regional disruption.

Continued preferential status on future infrastructure in the UAE, normal business as you know.

Over $100 'aid' to the Mashreq region... as if that's seriously going to aid anything other than the purchase of bulletproof limos and securry teams for the favoured recipients.

It is not like the world bank is backing these loans. I wonder what is keeping these countries from taking the money and telling China to fcuk off.

Their moves will be a lot less violent and cause less death and destruction than others who have moved into that area.

China is doing with trade and investment what others are attempting to do with bombs and sanctions, which do you think is the best way?

I take it your answer is that bombs and sanctions are the best way to help the people of the ME as they have helped so much elsewhere.

I am well aware of China's failings and their past, oh while on that have a look at your wonderful countries involvement in Tibet which the Dalai lama described as doing as much harm as the Chinese https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_Tibetan_program.

Neither do I agree with what they are doing on the unfortunately named South China Sea but I also realise that there policy of developing trade with poorer countries is of mutual benefit to the countries and China.
There is a topic on here somewhere about that find it and learn.

I am also aware of your free press's bias against China after all it is Govt policy.
