The cars I imagine are for the domestic market. One of the great selling points of German cars around the world is that they are made in Germany and therefore in some eyes including many Chinese who consider a Benz a status symbol. It will be interesting to see if Chinese made German badged cars will do the same.

I suggest to you that many countries have bought or stolen "the best technology" historically.

Others were willing to sign contracts with Chinese entities by choice. Whether they misread the contracts or were badly translated is a question you need to address the the various "international companies" whose management agreed and signed the contracts. You may also want to investigate how some "international companies" are now reaping high rewards for their "international shareholders" and keeping their employees "back home" away from the dole queue, due to their managments decision to invest in China.

You may also wish to question this gentleman:

"Research and innovation are key drivers for Airbus and we think highly of China's innovation abilities. It is a new milestone of the deepening cooperation between Airbus and China," said Francois Mery, COO of Airbus China commercial aircraft.

"China is a leader in the field of nanoscience. I am confident that our cooperation will benefit both sides and the future of the global aviation industry with the expertise of Airbus and our Chinese partners," he said."

He is either lying and not following the EU companies official line, waving a white flag etc. or not. Care to prove either?

I wasn't at the research institute to see what "Chinese torture" the AB COO withstood, prior to signing the agreement,

Which implies some will stop buying/choosing/riding in because it is a Chinese assembled car/truck/train/plane. Cars are more personal, trucks I suggest are purely economic calculations of the total lifetime cost. Trains and planes are difficult to identify and hence some would, by choice never fly a Boeing or an Airbus, because it's foreign.

So initially I suspect "Chinese" Audis, Mercedes, Aston Martins, Fords, GM's ........ will be offered at a discount in any reluctant market. Once they have a proven record the discounts will disappear. Standard marketing approach around the world.

I suppose the VIN number could indicate where the car was Styled, Designed, Manufactured, Assembled, along with similar for every separate component. We could go to VIN plate swapping parties, instead of car key fob swapping parties, eh

Look under the bonnet of any car and estimate how much is, today, styled/designed/manufactured/assembled by a Chinese "robot", in a China located or a Chinese managed factories.

Where is Harley Davidson going to buy components from for it's planned Thai factory, where does Toyota buy it's components from for it's Thai factory?

How do you tell where your Audi gearbox is made?

Your choice of a source to demonstrate "stealing of IP" is a pathetic fake. But hey what's new in your posts.

Chinese rival firm Ninebot buys Segway

Chinese vehicle maker Ninebot has bought iconic US rival Segway, the company announced on Wednesday.

The Beijing-based firm did not disclose the amount of the acquisition, but did say that it received $80m (£54m) in funding from smartphone maker Xiaomi and investment firm Sequoia Capital.

Ninebot also makes two-wheeled electric vehicles, designed for standing riders, that resemble Segways. Segway had sought an import ban against Ninebot in the US in September.

The Chinese company was one of several that Segway had accused of infringing its patents.

In a statement, the companies said that both brands would continue to operate under their existing names.

"It [the acquisition] creates a development opportunity for the short-distance transportation industry, which the combined company will lead by widely applying a series of technologies, such as electric driving, mobile internet and human-computer interaction on future products," said Ninebot chief executive Lufeng Gao.

Segway was founded by Dean Kamen in 2001 with much fanfare, but struggled to become profitable.

It was bought by Summit Strategic Investments for an undisclosed amount in 2013.

    "
Summit Investment Management’s Special Situation Capital group invests in opportunistic or complex transactions involving middle market companies ranging in size from $10 million to $250 million in revenue. Our clients include companies and management teams with a need for capital to grow or repair their business."

Special Situation Capital | Summit Investment

It appears that Summit Investment has the same predatory business model. Buy companies in distress, wait and sell at a profit. A win for SSI, Ninebot and their company employees, plus currently, the amerstani company will continue to operate and the ameristani workers have an income, pay their bills, feed and clothe their children.

I presume you see that as a failure lay waste all that is around you, preferring the Harley Davison Inc. model, close one, long established, ameristani factory, firing workers and investing in foreign lands to make a profit for it's shareholders, who don't give a damn about anything other than today's share price.

What a turd you are becoming.

Try another fake example and expect the same factual retort.

You're not very bright, are you?

Ninebot stole all of Segway's technology and made a fortune in the Chinese market. Segway have been suing them, and they obviously decided the best way to stop them was to buy them, especially as Ninebot essentially destroyed their business.

They basically fucking stole the whole company you idiot.

    That's how they roll.

An unprecedented situation, I don't think.

Buy a possible competitors wilfully offered product/technology and inherit the client base, stop developing it and the clients are yours. The clients ask for clarification of their way forward. The clients have invested time and money. The client base is told the upgrade is available from us now, for a nominal fee.

Happens every day somewhere in the world.

    Except it's more

    - Steal your competitors technology and make fortunes out of it.
    - Buy your competitor to cease the justifiable lawsuit for stealing their technology.

Many companies sold their soul and IP when they signed contracts to build their products within China. Investigate the Siemens fiasco. Why, head office power, short term greed along with lack of planning/foresight. Certainly not China acting illegally. Western companies recently entered the China market with their eyes open, they made offers and eventually the Chinese accepted one. That is commerce, worldwide. Not the same as in the "gun boat days" I admit, but times change.

The suing company management, decided as is their right, to accept or decline the offered solution from the sued company. They could have continued their, unproven in a law court, claim.

Are you suggesting that a company management's right and decision making in law, should be abolished?

You stupid waffler. There is a massive difference between sharing IP with a partner under an agreed contract , and them nicking it to go off on their own stealing your business.

China-ASEAN to cooperate on new energy vehicles

"China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations pledged to deepen cooperation in new energy car development, especially in realms such as technical exchange, regulations and public services, officials and experts from both parties said on Wednesday.
Effective exchange mechanisms including summit forums, technical seminars and onsite visits, will play a vital role in strengthening China-ASEAN trade and investment ties, said Han Jianping, deputy director of the department of international organizations and conferences at the State Administration for Market Regulation. Han made the remarks at the China-ASEAN Clean Energy Vehicle Forum in Shanghai.

"We strive to create multiple platforms to facilitate the exchange of views on product, technology, spare parts and waste disposal during the entire (new-energy vehicle) production cycle," said Cheng Yun, deputy division chief of the trade development bureau at the Ministry of Commerce.
Combined, the ASEAN is the world's sixth-largest economy and has a combined population of 635 million, spelling huge potential for the development of electric cars according to Heru Nugroho, chairman of the automotive product working group at the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality.

While member states have rolled out incentives such as preferential tax rates and subsidies, they still lack consistent technical standards and corresponding infrastructure to bolster the industry's development in the long run, said Emjunan Sihite, an executive from the Association of Indonesia Automotive industries.

China has ample experience to share when it comes to developing new energy vehicles and ironing out technological glitches for economies that are still at the preliminary stage, Nugroho noted.

The production and sales volume of China's new energy vehicles stood at 794,000 and 777,000 in 2017, topping the world for three consecutive years, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in March.
It has also made headway in the construction of charging infrastructure. By 2017, the number of public charging piles built in the country climbed to 214,000, up 51 percent year-on-year and ranking first in the world. The installation rate of private charging piles also surpassed 80 percent.

The conference will pave the way for regular contact that can extend to areas like technical research, management experience-sharing, regulation coordination and testing services, said Cang Xuejun, vice-president of the Shanghai Motor Vehicle Inspection Certification and Tech Innovation Center, a national-level lab for automobile inspection.
"China now boasts over 2 million new-energy vehicles and holds more than 100 technical standards," Cang said. "We are in a good position to share our expertise and experience with the ASEAN nations and help them grow."

Nurse Nurse 'arry's at again. The perfumed beauty arrives at 'arry's bed calmly carrying a half full syringe, alcohol dab in a spotless tray. She speaks quietly but firmly to a dribbling soul, who has known better times, saying, "Time for your sedatives. You're beginning to project again". "Why do you always fixate on the same two Presidents? Has that naughty OhOh been teasing you again?". By this time 'arry is in a far happier mood and asks for a warm bed bath. Consensually the nurse pulls the screen closed and hitches up her fresh white skirt offers her opened thighs. As usual 'arry has now dozed off with a smile on his face. The nurse winces at the loss of another squirt but knows 'arry's heart is in the right place.

Nigeria's new light rail officially commences operation

European and Ameristani Car Manufacturers Increase their Chinese Investments.-1bf22dd1-1c51-4321-baf6-f69b0199a1a2-jpeg

"Nigeria on Thursday formally commissioned the China-assisted Abuja light rail transportation system, the first of its kind in West Africa.

Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari declared the full operation of the capital city's light rail system, handled by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and partly funded by the Export-Import Bank of China.

Buhari, while delivering a keynote address at the light rail's commissioning ceremony, hailed the project as a significant milestone in the history of Nigeria.

"I am very optimistic that a modern rail service would bring about a boost to the FCT (Federal Capital Territory) economy and greatly enhance social life," said Buhari, who, thereafter, took a ride on the train.

Local passengers will enjoy a free ride on the train for one month, starting from Friday, said Kong Tao, an operations manager of the CCECC.

Kong said the three available coaches can convey more than 300 passengers on a trip, while at least 1,000 people are expected to daily ride on the train.

With a total length of 45 kilometers, the newly completed Lot A1 and Lot 3 of the light rail are part of the Abuja rail mass transit project.

The light rail was designed to have an interface with the national line at two points, where there would be interchanges to join the rail line linking the northern part of Nigeria.

It covers 12 stations, 21 operational offices, 13 bridges, 50 culverts and nine pedestrian overpasses.

The commissioning was preceded by a three-month test run, during which residents of Abuja beheld the new addition to the country's transportation infrastructure.

Buhari, together with key cabinet members and officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, flagged off the light rail transportation from the Abuja Metro Station, located behind the Abuja World Trade Center still under construction in the city center.

The president and co-passengers, including Zhou Pingjian, the Chinese ambassador in Nigeria, rode on the train to the Abuja Airport Terminal at the capital city's Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport.

Forty-year-old Chima Paul, who drove Buhari and others, told Xinhua it was a rare privilege for him to convey the country's very important personalities on his train.

"Apart from that, I am happier because this light rail system is a historic feat happening in my lifetime," said Paul.

"I've been driving the train for about three years now after learning from the Chinese. With this now, I can support my family and build a new career for myself," said the father of three.

Paul said the Abuja light rail is expected to reduce vehicular traffic and accidents, ensures the durability of the roads and makes transportation of goods, services and people a lot easier.

Nigerians had long anticipated the use of this facility, said Daniel Obot, a local civil servant.

According to him, the local transportation experience in the city of Abuja, the political capital of Nigeria, may never be the same as the train service cuts down travel time and cost.

Abuja, with a population of 4 million, is a relatively new city in Nigeria, but one of the fastest developing cities in Africa.

The construction of the light rail and its use is expected to open up new towns and boost economic activities along the corridor of Gwagwa, Kalgoni, DeiDei, Kubwa, Kokoaba, Dasonga, Asa, among 12 satellite towns in the Nigerian capital city.

For now, only three sets of standard coaches have been provided to cover skeletal services as the main set of the rolling stock is being awaited to make operations cover more passengers.

Sunny Moniedafe, a Nigerian education administrator, described his first ride on the train as "comfortable."

"I am seated as if I'm in my parlor and it is moving. Truly, this is commendable. I can see that the journey between the airport and the main city has reduced drastically and it is very comfortable," Moniedafe said.

"It is a very good thing. I commend the Chinese government for the relationship with the Nigerian government to make things better for us," he added."

Another day, another bridge. One is presuming the bridge allows more citizens to be employed locally, build a home, have a family and prosper, without having to sail out onto stormy waters only to be raped and pillaged by pirates, encased in an internment camp or forced at gun point to return home.

In some instances the sight of that approaching you would be a cause of concern. Missiles would be launched, mortars fired or ships blockades formed. No machine gun nests in the scaffolding or workers running for shelter from approaching microlights.

Ain't it grand some are able to see progress approaching with a smile.

It's Chinastan's massive "Belt and Road" project designed to put China at the centre of global trade.

When you think about it, if they nick everything everybody else is producing, at the end of the day they will be the only fuckers selling anything.

Audi's flagship Q8 SUV makes its global premiere in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on June 5.

"CHANGCHUN - German luxury carmaker Audi registered strong sales in the Chinese market in the first six months of this year, the Sino-German joint venture FAW-Volkswagen announced.

Audi sold more than 305,500 vehicles in China in the first half of 2018, with year-on-year growth of 20.5 percent, while total sales of Volkswagen cars topped 955,800, up 9.6 percent compared with the same period last year, the company said.
Audi plans to roll out 16 new models, including the new generation Q5L and China-produced Q2L, in China this year, and to introduce 10 new energy vehicle models by 2022, the company announced earlier this year."
