Yes the rebels, you mentioned them as a group not as a group of groups with unknown sympathies until they turn their weapons on the providers, and you could be a bit more specific about NATO friends because at least one is not a friend at all and is itching to oops sorry 'bout that on the Kurds, then add the Iranian and Saudi/Qatari proxies for something closer to reality after taking out the Israelites because they're not actively in the fray and won't be since that might confuse the issue.

Otherwise fairly accurate, if you don't include mercenaries paid by the US taxpayer, and possibly a general lack of traction since it isn't always easy switching sides from supporting a bunch of Islamists under one admin to supporting another that claim to represent whatever it is you think you want.

The USA has been openly arming and training the Syrian "rebels"* since 2015.

Sure you can hope and pretend it was not US weaponry... but you know it was.

    * Rebels - also known as Al Qaeda and ISIS.

Knowing a bit about how US black OPs work my bet is although the weapons were purchased and supplied with US funds, they would not be US weapons. Deniable plausibility always in play.

    Only by idiots like yourself.

Which isn't to say they didn't get their hands on US weapons supplied to the Syrian opposition, but they are not fighting for the Syrian people.

Indeed - however that was in the days when people cared. These days, most of the world are CNN drones like harry, and they will say it was Syrian government soldiers with Russian SAMS that blew the russian jet out of the sky, and Harry will believe it.

I'm afraid if you want conspiracy theories you'll have to rely on the forum whackjobs.

I would have thought that even a moron like you would be able to deduce that the suspect list includes every group bombed by Putin (which he claimed were always IS) and is thus extremely long.

Still buying the western mainstream narrative then are you?

OK - lets make this easy for you.

    There is Syria.
There are non syrian western, Saud and qatari backed terrorists trying to topple Assad
Then a few curds flying about the place.

That's it. I know you believe in the toothfairy along with good and bad "rebels" but each time the "good" terrorists are scrutinised, they are found to be ISIS and AQ. Every time. And the merkins know it.

Heh - did you sign the petition for the White Helmuts to be given the nobel peace prize? Bet you did, eh?

To understand how this conflict got where it was, you have to know where it started.

Unfortunately feeble minded idiots like yourself will still try and point fingers at the West.

You'll probably try and blame them for allowing a dictator to run a Middle Eastern country.

Then, when they take one down like Qadafi, they're the bad guys and should have stayed out.

The trouble with you is that not only do you not have a fucking clue, but you can't make your fucking mind up.

Summary offence in Assad's Syria to point a weapon in the general direction of a Russian.

Well Vlad is obviously very annoyed because he's letting Assad gas the rebels again.

Thousands pay last respects to Russian hero Su-25 pilot downed in Syria

Thousands paid their last respects to Major Roman Filipov, the Russian airman who was downed in Syria and gave his life fighting terrorists on the ground. The hero Su-25 pilot was laid to rest in his hometown of Voronezh.

The requiem ceremony for Major Filipov was held in the Officer’s House at a military compound in Voronezh. Over 30,000 braved the snowy weather to give the last honors to the late pilot.

The body of Filipov was then moved to the Kominternovskoye memorial cemetery. An Orthodox Christian service, attended only by the close relatives of the deceased pilot, was held in the graveyard’s chapel.

After the religious service, Major Filipov was buried at the cemetery’s Alley of Glory, receiving full military honors, including a rifle salute. Some 2,000 people gathered at the burial site to lay flowers and wreaths at his grave.

Major Filipov’s Su-25 attack aircraft was downed by militants over Syria’s governorate of Idlib on Saturday, during a routine observation flight of the de-escalation zone. The jet was likely struck by a heat-seeking man-portable anti-aircraft system (MANPAD). One of the plane’s engines caught fire, while the second one stalled, and Filipov was forced to eject, touching down in terrorist-held area.

As the militants swarmed Filipov’s landing site, the pilot engaged in a fire fight with them. The aviator was gravely wounded and blew himself up with a hand grenade when surrounded, shouting “this is for the boys!” as footage which emerged from the scene indicated. Major Filipov managed to empty almost two magazines of his sidearm during the skirmish, photos posted by militants online suggest.

Major Filipov was posthumously awarded Russia’s highest honor – the Hero of Russia medal. He is survived by a wife and a daughter. The body of the hero pilot was recovered and returned home on Tuesday, following the joint efforts of Russian and Turkish military intelligence services.
