Brexit: Jeremy Hunt says a 'lot more work' needed to get deal through
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-47607186

A "lot more work" is required to get MPs to back Theresa May's Brexit deal, Jeremy Hunt has said, amid uncertainty over whether it will be put to a vote for a third time this week.

The foreign secretary said there were "encouraging signs" that opponents of the deal were slowly coming round.

But he said another vote would only be held before Thursday's EU summit if ministers were "confident" of victory.

A number of Brexiteers have signalled they will continue to oppose the deal.

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson called for further changes to the terms of withdrawal, which the EU has rejected, while 22 Tory MPs have written to the Daily Telegraph saying that leaving without any agreement - known as a no-deal exit - on 29 March would actually be a "good deal" for the UK.

Its truly amazing they are not shy to publicly announce they will only have the vote when they know they will win, nor for the public to know they are buying votes from the DUP for the 2nd time now.

....and some people slag off the Thai system

If another viable party emerges both Tories and Labour will suffer massive losses at the next GE even with the not fit for purpose first past the post system.

Excellent news Bercow has blocked another vote on Doris deal unless there are significant changes to it which I would have thought is impossible at this late stage. Game on again.

Sterling Slides As UK Speaker Blocks May's Unaltered Deal Vote

Cable is sliding back below 1.3200 following a surprise move by the UK Commons Speaker John Bercow blocks UK PM May's third-time's-the-charm Brexit deal...

Specifically, Bercow notes that the government can't ask lawmakers to vote again on May's already-rejected Brexit deal unless it is altered.
"What the government cannot legitimately do is to resubmit to the House, or substantially the same proposition, as last week, which was rejected by 149 votes."

^ Just like the UK then?

Did you vote for John Bercow?

Ahhhh, so the UK parliament works exactly the same as the UK, who'd a thunk it.

Lets hope the EU refuse an extension forcing Doris to either revoke A50 or leave with a clean Brexit. Revoking A50 would mean the end of the Tory party and civil unrest on a massive scale so a clean Brexit is back in play. Just relying on Lord Farage mates now to veto an extension.

Maybot might go down the Ref2 route to revoke A50 then can blame the 'will of the people'.

Can't see the EU approving an extension as things currently stand ...for Ref2 then maybe.

The EU might refuse an extension knowing that Parliament has voted against leaving with no deal hoping it then revokes A50. Who the fuck knows what will happen tomorrow never mind later this week and next week. But both leavers and remoaners happy Bercow has prevented another vote but they both can't be right long term as in 11 days.

Revoking A50 will be more like a relief for many. I can't see large scale civil unrest, unless you think large scale is a couple of hundred people, such as the Brexit march...*snigger*

Who is going to go on a pointless walk about in the arse end of England. You don't think there will be mass civil unrest if A50 is revoked? People's votes taken away from them only option is to take to the streets.

Lorry drivers threaten to CLOSE UK transport links if exit is delayed

TRUCK drivers are planning to stage UK-wide blockades on highways if the country does not leave the EU on March 29, which they would see as a “Brexit betrayal”.

An anti-EU group which calls itself Brexit Direct Action claims it has been inundated with requests from campaigners to stage mass blockades of Britain’s major transport links.

The group, which aims to “organise and coordinate action against those whose intension is to delay/stop Brexit”, has urged its followers on social media to mobilise after MPs voted for Brexit to be postponed.

Brexit Direct Action wrote on Twitter: “Several social media groups have been in contact to ask if we’ll help gather support for a national truck drivers protest if #Brexit is delayed.”

It has vowed to take “direct action and protest” if an extension to Article 50 is granted by all 27 EU member states.

The plan to “bring this country to its knees” and urged Brexiteers across the country to get involved.

A statement posted by the group on Twitter read: “Brexiteers all over the country are planning to bring this country to its knees by blocking the main arterial routes - M1, M6 M25, M62, A1, A55, M5, M4, M42, M55, M61, A66 etc.

“If you live close to one of these major motorways and are willing to take part then prepare to move at short notice.”

It added: “Don’t worry about the legal side of things, the national organiser is sorting that out.”

Brexit Direct Action’s Twitter followers responded enthusiastically.

One person replied: “Go for it, most of the drivers I talk to just want to get out.”

Another said: “Totally agree with what you’re planning.

Brexit protesters reveal when and where North Wales go-slow will take place

A go-slow on the A494 in protest at the Government's handling of Brexit will take place next week. The Brexit Protest and Direct Action Group has revealed it will be held on Friday, March 22, at 7pm.

Vehicles are scheduled to drive in convoy along the dual carriageway between the Deeside Industrial Park and the junction at Ewloe, St David's Park and up Aston Hill close to where it becomes the A55.

Campaign group leader Ian Charlesworth said it was "to gauge support and interest" in the protest movement.

The 55-year-old from Deeside said they were hoping to catch Irish wagons heading toward Holyhead Port along the A55 - a main trading route with the EU.

Today on the campaign group's Facebook page, which now has more than 1,600 members - five people had indicated they were attending with another four "interested".

Initially Mr Charlesworth had threatened to block Holyhead port with vehicles in a bid to put pressure on the Government to resolve the chaos of Brexit.

But, the action was called off temporarily following dramatic scenes in The Commons on Thursday evening which saw MPs vote to delay leaving the EU on March 29.
However, group leader Mr Charlesworth said they will now attempt to disrupt lorries travelling to the port and have not ruled out a blockade in the coming days and weeks to show that the Government "cannot mess with the British public".

Our organiser is sorting out the legal side what a load of bollocks ......might cause 1-2 days inconvenience, but no way the government are going to allow the Queen's Highway to be blocked.

^One doesn't need to do anything illegal, one just drives a little slower than normal. Any requests by the police to pull over will be respected, but will slow the traffic even more, and others will fill in any gaps.

It's all about numbers, the police are in control if just a few vehicles being a pain in the arse, get thousands and nothing they can do.

^The police and the army(if required) will be there in sufficient numbers, the police will simply block the road then go down the tail back making arrests, seizing vehicles and parking them on the hard shoulder.

Can't imagine haulage companies being happy about their vehicles being used in a protest.

If you think the government aren't going to be prepared for this and just roll over and let it happen then think again.

    Lets see who is right...

Storm in a tea-cup...besides no-one would tell the difference on a Friday evening. Revoke A50 and use the £39bn to have a decent street party.
