    Your Worst Nightmare

    A successful Trump presidency:

Sgy Michael Verardo, who lost an arm and a leg while serving with the US army in Afghanistan in 2010, says he was failed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He had to wait 57 days to get his prosthetic leg fixed and three and a half years for adaptations to his home. But then came Donald Trump.

“Thank you, President Trump and [Veterans Affairs] Secretary [David] Shulkin for ensuring that we are not forgotten and that we will receive the care we need and deserve,” Verardo said at the White House recently.

Trump, signing an act to protect VA whistleblowers, revelled in the moment, using his fingers to mime a gun and mouthing his catchphrase “You’re fired!” at Shulkin. Then he smiled: “We will never use those words on you, that’s for sure.”

The audience in the East Room laughed dutifully. This is the parallel universe that Trump occupies whenever he can, a universe of achievements, applause and adoration, a safe space where he is monarch of all he surveys and his punchlines land. In his version of Washington, he is the Henry V-style man of action to Barack Obama’s indecisive, cripplingly intellectual Hamlet.

    Yep.

And the nightmare for the liberals won't end for another 7.5 years! Nothing wrong with a President being successful as we won't get tired of winning.

Good article, and probably quite true- given the intense antipathy to Drumpf in "lib'rul" (& indeed beltway republican) circles, the great unexpressed fear is doubtless that of a successful, or at least adequately performing presidency. And lets face it, after the disappointment of the Obama years (a republican presidency in sheeps clothing), that may not be such a hard act to follow.

Fortunately however, the donalds conduct in office thus far makes such an outcome unlikely.

Amazing... The bar was already lowered for Trump, he stumbles over it, it just gets lowered even more. Every time.

Well for a start wasn't orange cunto the one who said "Job numbers are phony"?

And he can't even claim credit for them anyway, because they are just a continuation of Obama's fiscal policies.

What budgetary legislation has orange cunto passed?

    Fuck all, that's what.

Just on No.1: What's so brilliant about appointing a Supreme Court justice when you have the majority in both houses (and you *still* need to change the rules to do it).

I could go on, but your little orange cunto laundry list is a pile of insignificant pish.

Fat Boy has done fuck all. No jobs bills, no wall, no healthcare, and you think he's a success?

Boy the old trumpanzees live in a world of their own, don't they?

P.S. Mods fold this into the President Donald Trump thread where it belongs.

1 - Trump is taking credit for a succession of DJ highs and the economy should do well under him, but pointing to himself as it rises leaves him vulnerable for when it hits the fan.

2 - He's a businessman that's still learning how DC works, and surrounded by people in influential positions that he cannot or should not trust. Call them subversives or deep state or whatever, but they want him to fail.

    3 - We're watching a slomo coup d'etat, and the endgame won't be pretty.

Whats the difference between a whistleblower and a leaker? A leaker has to hide when he/she alerts the public to disturbing information.

^ Sure right after you prove that Drumpf had something to do with everyone of those bullet points. Once you have proven that then maybe we will do what you requested.

The fact is that you can not get away with a request like that until you do the same thing first.

Here's another one: Cancelling the TPP has put China in the front seat negotiating trade deals across Asia.

And it means all those countries will get preferential treatment with tariff cuts, etc., meaning America will be at a disadvantage selling goods into China and India.

    Fucking smart move that one.

Trump and his protectionist trade team have made it clear that their principal goal is to stick it to China. Withdrawing from the TPP will have exactly the opposite effect. It’s a gift to China and no one is happier about it than the government of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland last weekend, Xi said China would be happy to take over the leadership role in global trade that the United States has now relinquished. That will be good for China, but not so good for anyone else.

One of the main reasons that Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia chose to align themselves with the United States by signing the TPP is that they didn’t want to be left alone on a dark street with China. Several other East Asian countries were expected to join TPP after it took effect, mostly for the same reason. They wanted a continued U.S. presence in the region to serve as an economic and strategic counterweight to China’s imperialistic and bellicose designs. The Chinese want Asia all to themselves and Trump just gave it to them.

The other parties to the TPP could decide to renegotiate it into an agreement just among themselves, but alternatively some may feel they have no choice but to join an alternative trade agreement being honchoed by China – the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP. It includes 16 countries from India to Japan. It’s a wild-west sort of agreement that cuts tariffs and leaves every man to himself to ensure he doesn’t get cheated. It has no rules, no standards holding governments to any threshold of ethical or honest behavior.

    Cool

Lord have mercy on the poor little snowflakes.

North Korea missile threat defused by the tough talking Donald...

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/north-k...eat-1502751054

    This is yuge indeed..

SEOUL—North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has decided not to launch a threatened missile attack on Guam, Pyongyang’s state media reported on Tuesday, but warned that he could change his mind “if the Yankees persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions.”

(For a deeper analysis of the issues in this story, please see “North Korea Backs Off Threat to Hit Guam”)

The report, published early Tuesday, could help dial back tensions that had spiraled last week following an exchange of threats between North Korea and U.S. President Donald Trump.
    Yuge..
