    From Robert Reich:

"A Ukrainian lawmaker released financial documents today showing that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort laundered payments from the party of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych -- who enjoyed Moscow’s backing while he was in power and has been in hiding in Russia since being overthrown by pro-Western protesters in 2014.
Manafort resigned from Trump’s campaign in August after his name surfaced in connection with some of those payments.
The documents were released just hours after the House Intelligence Committee questioned FBI Director James B. Comey about possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
I don’t think we’re going to get to the bottom of this until the investigation is headed by a bi-partisan select committee of Congress, and run by an independent special prosecutor."

‘There’s a smell of treason in the air’: Historian Douglas Brinkley analyzes ‘mind-boggling’ Comey hearing

Monday’s House Intelligence Committee hearing with FBI Director James Comey is still causing shock waves throughout the political world, and historian Douglas Brinkley believes that it’s an unprecedented moment in American politics.

Speaking with the Washington Post, Brinkley said he could not ever recall a time when a senior federal law enforcement official publicly confirmed a major criminal investigation into the campaign of a sitting president.

“There’s a smell of treason in the air,” Brinkley said. “Imagine if J. Edgar Hoover or any other FBI director would have testified against a sitting president? It would have been a mind-boggling event.”

Brinkley went on to say that he has never seen a new president grow so unpopular so quickly, as Trump’s low approval ratings combined with the FBI’s investigation into his campaign’s ties with Russia have created massive storm clouds hanging over his presidency.

“This is the most failed first 100 days of any president,” he said. “To be as low as he is in the polls, in the 30s, while the FBI director is on television saying they launched an investigation into your ties with Russia, I don’t know how it can get much worse.”

Ukraine Lawmaker Calls On U.S. To Investigate New 'Evidence' Of Secret Payments To Manafort

KYIV -- Paul Manafort is under scrutiny again after a Ukrainian lawmaker released documents he says show that U.S. President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman went to great lengths to hide $750,000 tied to his work for former President Viktor Yanukovych.

The documents, made public by lawmaker Serhiy Leshchenko at a press conference in Kyiv on March 21, include an invoice that bears the name of Manafort’s Virginia-based consulting company, a blue seal, and what appears to be his signature.

Initially described in a report published by The New York Times on March 20, the document seems to show that $750,000 was laundered through an offshore account and disguised as payment for computers.

Leshchenko called on Ukrainian and U.S. law-enforcement agencies to investigate the payment.

How did we miss this yesterday?

Breitbart and Infowars under investigation for ties to Russia: report

Federal investigators are examining whether far-right news sites played any role last year in a Russian cyber operation that dramatically widened the reach of news stories — some fictional — that favored Donald Trump's presidential bid, two people familiar with the inquiry say.

Operatives for Russia appear to have strategically timed the computer commands, known as "bots," to blitz social media with links to the pro-Trump stories at times when the billionaire businessman was on the defensive in his race against Democrat Hillary Clinton, these sources said.

The bots' end products were largely millions of Twitter and Facebook posts carrying links to stories on conservative internet sites such as Breitbart News and InfoWars, as well as on the Kremlin-backed RT News and Sputnik News, the sources said. Some of the stories were false or mixed fact and fiction, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the bot attacks are part of an FBI-led investigation into a multifaceted Russian operation to influence last year's elections.

Investigators examining the bot attacks are exploring whether the far-right news operations took any actions to assist Russia's operatives. Their participation, however, wasn't necessary for the bots to amplify their news through Twitter and Facebook.

The remainder of the article describes how misinformation was spread.

This has been obvious for sometime and I am surprised this took so long to come out.

Several of the more nutty posters on this forum regularly quote the above mention sites.

Psychologist Michal Kosinski developed a method to analyze people in minute detail based on their Facebook activity. Did a similar tool help propel Donald Trump to victory? Two reporters from Zurich-based Das Magazin went data-gathering.

Well it was far more effective than that. This is the firm that Trump hired, and Clinton used a firm called Deep Blue. If you read it you will see that this was far more influental over the election that the bs about 'teh russians'.

I'm not being partisan, I think pro and anti trump people and independents should understand how their social media profile can be used to target them with very specific messages that can change elections.

Your are thinking of the fake news that Trump is a stooge of 'teh russians'. Its all bolstered by astroturfing social media using bots spreading this nonsense.

But anyway, if only the dnc had cheated bernie out of the primaries, it could have all been completely different.

There is no way anymone can believe documents released by any unnamed Ukranian lawmakers, or from anyone else for that matter unless it is a video tape with audio. Then it can be "considered ." All of you nutters out there need to quit spreading all the fake crap and grow a brain. Don't be like the Congressional hearings and try to make shit up.

Maybe, but I would not count on it. The Ukrainians are just as susceptible to false information as all other countries are. I don't think there is anything special that makes them the end all truth tellers.
