November 2018 is just around the corner in US politics. Already campaigning. Had a few Republicans vote no on the healthcare bill after their reception back home. Not to worry this issue will still be going hot and heavy by Nov 2018.

Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who wrote the letter informing Comey of the reasons for his firing, would be the one in charge of appointing a special consul since Jeff Sessions recused himself of anything having to do with the Russian investigation. Was he duped into doing this and fall into line as part of a strategy to fire Comey that originated in the privy chambers of the White House? Did he realize he was being used as a pawn by Trump? Is it likely that he would have the balls to appoint a special consul? Seems unlikely to me that any 'Howard Baker' type will emerge out of the Republican leadership as a voice of sanity who could bring pressure on him.

Insightful article on how the Trumpster operates. Looks to me like he is unravelling faster and faster each week.

Well, as has been pointed out, if he appoints a seasoned law enforcement professional to replace Comey, then there is really nothing to bicker about.

If he appoints Giuliani or Christie, the knives will be out.

Yes. A major factor but still he's created an unnecessary controversy for little or no gain. Stupid is as stupid does.

There really is no gain if Comey's replacement continues with the investigation, is there?

Or are you really fucking dumb enough to think he fired Comey because of the way he handled Hillary's emails?

You keep saying things like that with nothing to back it up. It's all hush hush I suppose?

I'm not little and not your friend. I am however an old git registered Republican who can smell a con artist a mile away and Trump reeks of snake oil.

You on the other hand are a clueless Brit (or similar) with no idea about US politics, laws or how angry Americans get when they discover they have been conned. Trump has gained nothing but contempt with this crazy stunt. Stick a fork in him. He's done. At best a one term failure or the second in history to resign in shame.

Not yet and there won't be unless the investigation is done. Sure there is another deep throat waiting in the wings. Trump firing Cox ain't going to end this. In fact will only make his life more miserable.
    How so?
