A highly anticipated US Department of Justice report accuses ex-FBI director James Comey of being "insubordinate" but not politically biased.
manafort just had his bail revoked for trying to influence the testimony of other witnesses and will be locked up before his trial.
he's on his way to jail at literally this minute.
the screws are definitely tightening.
ray, do you still think trump will be impeached?
what are your odds that you think trump will be impeached (house) and convicted (senate)?
90%?
^^ Heh, heh.
Paul Manafort ordered to jail after witness-tampering charges
A federal judge ordered Paul Manafort to jail Friday over charges he tampered with witnesses while out on bail — a major blow for President Trump’s former campaign chairman as he awaits trial on federal conspiracy and money-laundering charges next month.
“You have abused the trust placed in you six months ago,’’ U.S. District Court judge Amy Berman Jackson told Manafort. “The government motion will be granted and the defendant will be detained.”
The judge said sending Manafort to a cell was “an extraordinarily difficult decision,” but added his conduct left her little choice, because he had allegedly contacted witnesses in the case in an effort to get them to lie to investigators.
“This is not middle school. I can’t take away his cell phone,” she said. “If I tell him not to call 56 witnesses, will he call the 57th?” She said she should not have to draft a court order spelling out the entire criminal code for him to avoid violations.
“This hearing is not about politics. It is not about the conduct of the office of special counsel. It is about the defendant’s conduct,” Jackson said. “I’m concerned you seem to treat these proceedings as another marketing exercise.”
Manafort, dressed in a blue suit and red tie, was led out of the courtroom by security officers. He turned and gave a last look and wave to his wife, seated in the well of the court. She nodded back to him.
His lawyer Richard Westerling had urged the judge not to send him to jail, saying that it was not required by law, and doing so “will create more challenges for the defense, which already faces trial in two courts.”
The order to incarcerate Manafort capped a months-long fight over the terms of his bail. He had been asking to post a $10 million bond and end seven months of home detention.
It was not immediately clear where Manafort would be jailed.
The order marked the latest fall for the political power broker and confidant of Republican presidents dating back to Ronald Reagan.
Hours earlier, Trump had defended Manafort in remarks to reporters outside the White House.
Manafort “has nothing to do with our campaign, but I tell you I feel a little badly about it,” Trump said. “They went back 12 years to get things that he did 12 years ago.”
Trump added that Manafort “worked for me for a very short period of time.”
Asked if he might consider pardoning former aides and advisers, Trump answered: “I don’t want to talk about that.”
Prosecutors alleged that by committing a new crime while on release, Manafort violated the terms of his home confinement in Alexandria, Va., and they asked the judge to revoke or revise it.
Manafort, 69, has pleaded not guilty to all charges in what prosecutors say was a broader conspiracy to launder more than $30 million over a decade of undisclosed lobbying for a former pro-Russian politician and party in Ukraine.
The case against him includes failing to register in the U.S. as a lobbyist for a foreign government. On June 8, he and a Russian business associate were charged with obstruction of justice after prosecutors say they tried to persuade two potential witnesses to tell investigators the Ukraine lobbying effort did not include activity in the United States.

President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen has indicated to family and friends he is willing to cooperate with federal investigators to alleviate the pressure on himself and his family, according to a source familiar with the matter.Cohen has expressed anger with the treatment he has gotten from the President, who has minimized his relationship with Cohen, and comments from the President's lawyer Rudy Giuliani, the source said. The treatment has left him feeling isolated and more open to cooperating, the source said.
Asked by reporters Friday if he was worried about Cohen cooperating, Trump said, "I did nothing wrong, nothing wrong." He also said he hasn't spoken with Cohen "in a long time," adding, "I always liked Michael and he's a good person."
CBS News reported Thursday that Cohen believes Trump and his allies are turning against him.
Cohen is under criminal investigation by the US attorney's office in Manhattan for his personal financial dealings, including the payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf before the election.
Pressure on Cohen has been building since an April FBI raid on his home, office and hotel room when agents seized over a dozen electronic devices and multiple boxes of documents.
It isn't known which particular remarks by the President or his allies have irked Cohen -- or if it is the totality of them -- but tensions have grown since the FBI raid.
Cohen has not met with prosecutors to discuss any potential deal. He is currently seeking new lawyers with the goal to find a legal team with experience appearing before judges in the Southern District of New York and working with the US attorney's office in Manhattan, CNN reported earlier this week. If Cohen does cooperate with investigators, it isn't clear what specific information he would provide. But the President's longtime "fixer" has worked inside the Trump Organization for a decade and was involved with, among other things, discussions to brand a Trump Tower in Moscow.
The switch in legal team comes as Cohen's lawyers have until today to finish reviewing 3.7 million files seized in the FBI raid for attorney-client privilege. A person familiar with the review process said Cohen's lawyer will meet the deadline. Cohen's attorney, reached on Thursday night, declined to comment.

Manafort flipafort
if dems take house in november, i have no doubt that he'll be impeached.....convicted in the senate is another matter.
but if the evidence is there, i think many republican senators would relish the opportunity to stick the knife in and vote to convict.
that said, it has long been my opinion that he'll see the writing on the wall and resign before the election.
So much Trump support on the street here in the USA it is depressing. The way they see the week:
1. Signs agreement with North Korea and saves the world.
2. Finally exonerated from the fake news by the IG report.
3. Tells Americans the way it really is on Fox and Friends.
The last bit is a bit scary as it is obvious that the White House coordinated with Fox to have that interview. Studio plate lights were set up well before that "chance" interview and Trumpster spent 30 minutes with them. There is indeed intent on how they are pulling the wool over the Americans. Sad times.
You Make Your Own Luck
Looking at the cast of characters under indictment or currently being investigated as part of charges brought, it's obvious that intelligence isn't a prerequisite to work for trump.
I would have to agree with ray on this one....
The way things are shaping up the dems will have an excellent chance of taking the house. Just look at this laundry list of GOP retirements this year...

there are so many variables and moving parts that it's impossible to know how this is going to play out.
what is mueller going to do when he's finished his investigation?
issue indictments for senior campaign and transition officials (including the president) on charges of conspiracy against the US?
issue indictments for the above on obstruction of justice?
issue indictments on money laundering for the trump family?
don't issue any indictments at all and submit his findings to this congress?
don't issue any indictments at all and submit his findings to the next congress?
release his report directly to the american people...by simply posting a pdf online.
btw, i watched geroge will on bill maher's show this week and he brought up a very interesting possibility....the supreme court could determine that the special counsel's appointment was unconstitutional and therefore any evidence, indictments and convictions would be 'fruit from a poison tree'.
^pretty much anybody's guess. I was under the impression that Mueller said he wouldn't indict Trump.
There was a meeting a few weeks ago with some high ranking GOPs and Mueller, after that meeting they all seemed to support the investigation. I think Mueller's got some pretty heavy evidence. I don't see trump finishing this term.
Mueller job is not to indict Trump or find evidence against him, that's not his mission
however cleaning up Trump entourage is a big advantage of Muller investigation for the Deep State, above all the Pentagon and the CIA
^not from Giulianni. Not sure where i picked it up....seemed like he considered his job just to investigate and turn his findings over to Congress as far as POTUS was considered.
