    Face of a conman.

    From;

    BBC Brothers who ran filthy care home fined over "betrayal" of elderly - Liverpool Echo

    Not very surprising.

    "Amer Latif, of Aakfield Avenue, Woolton , and Amjad Latif, of Suffolk Road, Altrincham, had pleaded guilty to putting residents at significant risk of harm, as well as failing to notify the relevant authorities about 10 deaths and three other incidents."

    One of many Asian run "care homes" in UK.

    Do any of your loved ones live in such places?

    Why?

    Something in that story suggests why it would be of particular interest to you, Ent, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

    Besides, Asian investment in UK care homes is a growing concern (mop) due to Asian owners' non-compliance to standard regulatory practice.

    British Asians seem keen on investing in;

    care homes, taxis, food outlets, money exchanges, schools, colleges and visas....and any other 'bling' orientated enterprises such as movies, boxing, 'charities' and such.

    Why?

    Also real estate, but only among their hi-so mob.

    Others like to buy lords hi-sos and such, get into the house of lords and try to twist things around in UK to suit an alien cultural nicety, ie, Mid-Eastern religio-political views.

    I know an Indian taxi driver who claimed to be an immigration lawyer, he took £3000 each from Indian clients and never secured one entry visa.

    My parents ran a care home for a while many years ago, it's kind of easy money if you can cope with all the obvious vicissitudes of it. You basically have higher value more long-term tenants than you would if you were doing the student or migrant working thing. There are a lot of cynical people in that game, and the kinds of staff you get are not the most impressive specimens you've ever seen. Families rarely, if ever, visit those they've deposited there, especially the residents who are the most afflicted. It's a tragic thing watching people deteriorate so rapidly as they tend to.

    Big money to be made in the private care sector mainly due to lack of regulation and/or lack of enforcement of what regulations there are. Costs the state an absolute fortune too as the state is picking up the tab for a lot of those in 'private' care homes due to local councils not having enough homes of their own.

    But to change the subject slightly, one thing that has always disappointed me about a lot of my fellow Brits is their attitude towards their own families as in farming them out to a nursing/care home and basically abandoning them instead of taking care of them themselves, obviously this isn't possible in all cases but in a lot it is. No excuse for a lot of people with spare room not moving an elderly parent in and I find it quite disgusting that people don't as your parents brought you up and took care of you in your younger years and then people abandon them in their later years passing the burden over to the state for their own selfish reasons.
