    Trump's military deaths thread

    afaik, this is the first:

One U.S. service member was killed and three were wounded during an operation targeting al Qaeda militants in Yemen, according to statement from the Pentagon
U.S. Servicemember Killed in Raid on Al Qaeda In Yemen - NBC News

regardless of one's opinion of the US military or its personnel, it will be interesting to see how trump's utter lack of foreign policy experience and big mouth impacts the number of dead military during the next four years.

i'd suggest they start constructing more coffins.

How many dead when Obama took office in his first week?

Fair question. I wonder if Trump will have as heavy a finger on the drone.

yep, obama dropped 26,000 bombs last year.

    https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...6-obama-legacy

imagine trump will wipe out ISIS with the help of russia, iraq, etc. and then pull back. one of the main reasons the neo-cons opposed trump is because he doesn't feel it's an ideological fight to turn countries around the world into democracies.

rather just protect the borders and defeat ISIS.

IIRC more than 2/3 of military deaths in Afghanistan occured from 2009, when Obama increased the contingent.
Is this going to be like cricket, where Obama was 1,836 declared, and Trump just has to stay under that figure within the over limit to win?

Do we count deaths of innocent Libyans and Syrians and Iraqis and Yemenis under Obama too? What about the deaths of illegal migrants crossing up through central America, and the ones drowning in the Med? "Nobel Peace Prize" eh? What a hero.

It's an interesting attempt to try and telegraph a rewriting of history...
Will you be gutted if Trump delivers peace in Syria and eliminates ISIS?

    Wow.

I sure don't remember you're GWB or Obama "military deaths thread."

Some might call that bias, but....I....won't.

Yes there were casualties under Obama when he tried to fight his way out of Bush's mess. But it's down to a few dozen a year and he evntually avoided putting US troops in harms way where possible.

I can't see Trump going back to the old method; Americans are tired of bodies coming home from wars they shouldn't even be involved in.

Only the Fox and Breitbart retards bang on about how the US should send troops to defeat IS.

Well the cluster fuck is well underway. Drumpf kicked the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Director of National Intelligence off of the National Security council and Installed Bannon as its chairman.

    Unprecedented and incredibly stupid.

That operation would more likely have been planned and authorised under Obamas watch. And then executed after Trump entered office.

Nice choice of trolling words, Hummer.

    "Goose stepping."

    You should review US history.

The USA is 240 years old and has been at total peace in only 7 years.

HRC was backed by all of the Arms Manufactuers except for one, the Necons, and former Presidents GHB and GWB.

Still waiting patiently to see how my active duty and military retiree mates spin this one. But so far .... crickets.

Gotta wonder what happened behind the scenes ... wonder if the JCS was asked to retire and refused? Are we about to start seeing the "Trump Purge" of senior flag officers?

I'm thinking anybody appointed or promoted under Obama needs to be looking for another job or watching their back.

It's common and especially with the differences between BO and T on their basic policy differences.

I wouldn't want more than a few of the previous admin's folks in my govt.

    Probably none.

You guys as a country have done an outstanding job on invading others. You tend to leave them a little bit fucked, though. So the goose stepping thing is probably a bit wide of the mark, old boy.

No, it's not common with military personnel. If you look at the following link, specifically for the JCS, you'll see they typically served a 4 year tour and often under two Presidents.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chairm...hiefs_of_Staff

I sure as hell hope General Dunford does his entire 4 year tour which is supposed to end in 2019.

In the interest of balance the record of the peace prize man.

Some 2,500 Americans Have Died in Afghanistan and Iraq Under Obama
    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/some-2-500-americans-have-died-in-afghanistan-and-iraq-under-obama-20160530

That does not include the ones who have died in other wars started by the US.

—Under Obama, the United States has been at war for 2,687 days. That's longer than under George W. Bush — or any other U.S. president, for that matter.
—Obama has conducted airstrikes on seven countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and Syria. (That's three more countries than George W. Bush bombed.)

—U.S. combat forces are deployed on the ground in three countries: Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. That's one more war than Obama inherited, and which his successor will likely have to contend with.
Yes thats the legacy Trump has to contend with, not a eviable job he has inherited.
