Perez wins bid to lead Democratic Party | TheHill

Perez’s win is a victory for centrist Democrats, many of whom were wary of handing the party over to the Sanders wing. But his election risks infuriating progressives, many of whom wanted to see Ellison, an early supporter of Sanders, installed atop the DNC.

The DNC has a lot of work to do at the grass roots level with working class voters. The notion that the GOP is the party of blue collar America is preposterous. Tax cuts meted out to the wealthy and Wall Street deregulation will do nothing to create higher paying jobs. The scam that Trump is perpetrating on the American people wiil start to sink in when millions lose their health care coverage. The party needs to coalesce around Bernie Sanders' vision for America's middle class.

Shiiiiiiit man they have a megaton of work to do to be able to tap in to the working class.

HRC flat out told the working class she was basically not going to give them any relief at all tax wise. Her whole platform was totally status quo. Then add on nothing but pandering social issues, more regulation, and the same ole same ole faces of aged Democrats.

Right now they are fucked unless they can bring in someone fresh with fresh ideas. The social issues are no problem, even the stupid bathroom shit, but you cant campaign on that. Cant just prop up blacks and women, and talk shit.

And firearms legislation is a huge issue with the dems and they are even taking to changing the wording of the issue. changing the talking points. But continually trying to choke it down, and thats a hot one right down the middle.

Blue collar meaning employed and outside of the range for any tax credits and benefits? Hell yeah they are. Then add in more income tax and ever increasing healthcare, fuck yeah the GOP will kill it. You might be confusing "Blue Collar" with "Need Assistance". Blue collar wants work, not government assistance.

Not just the wealthy, and not targeting the wealthy. And yes, wall street deregulation, corporate tax cuts, freeing up money, will bring companies. Will bring more american innovation. Ya cant just choke everything down and expect it to prosper.

Nobody is going to end Obamacare without a plan. Thats political suicide.

But I guess these things are the main differences between Dems and Repubs.

The Trump presidency will be a disaster. The nation will be sick and tired of Trump's manic bullshit show after his first year.

Thats certainly the picture the media is painting. But we wont know for a while yet. Might even have to wait 2 years to see.

I think the liberals have seriously shown their ass after the Trump win and thats really gonna come back & burn them. A democrat vote looks like a vote for hysterical pussy hats & feminism etc... Social issues are important, no doubt, but an actual sellable platform thats majority encompassing as well as hitting some social issues is the only way they are going to make it. And I see absolutely none of that right now.

Unless you hope that trump is going to do so terrible, that the majority would rather vote for a bag of catshit than Trump again. That could happen, but that certainly wouldn't be a smart plan.

    Serious response, Humbert.

The topic is the DNC. When American partisan Trump bashers start the conversation with me, I have stated over a dozen times:

The DNC needs to shake things up.

I have NEVER gotten a response from these people on this comment. They just don't respond.

Here is my proposal for the DNC's new slogan after Picking Perez:

Tom Perez, a Clintonite and Obama administrator, maybe be doing this for strategy and/or perhaps because he's actually got common sense:

    EXCLUSIVE POLITICS MAR 28 2017
Embattled DNC Asks All Staffers For Resignation Letters
    by ALEX SEITZ-WALD

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has launched a major overhaul of the party's organization, which has been stung by recent crises — and the DNC has requested resignation letters from all current staffers.

Party staff routinely see major turnover with a new boss and they had been alerted to expect such a move. However, the mass resignation letters will give Perez a chance to completely remake the DNC's headquarters from scratch. Staffing had already reached unusual lows following a round of post-election layoffs in December.

Immediately after Perez's selection as party chairman in late February, an adviser to outgoing DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile, Leah Daughtry, asked every employee to submit a letter of resignation dated April 15, according to multiple sources familiar with the party's internal workings.

A committee advising Perez on his transition is now interviewing staff and others as part of a top-to-bottom review process to decide not only who will stay and who will go, but how the party should be structured in the future.

The discussion on Chelsea is a ridiculous diversion from the real issue. What will be the defining issues that will define the Democratic Party and who will the party leaders be that can mount a serious challenge to Trump's personality cult.

Nurses heckle Democratic leader, threaten legislators over health care
    MAY 19, 2017

BY CHRISTOPHER CADELAGO AND ANGELA HART

State Democrats’ three-day convention had a raucous start Friday, as liberal activists booed and heckled Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez after marching from the state Capitol to promote a universal heath care program.

I'm done with the Dems (and the Repubs). Still 3rd party. And as we know, the DNC has not changed its ways. We cannot really draw conclusions from this at this time, however.

Can Democrats Fix the Party? - Rolling Stone

"Ultimately, the Democrats can't control whether 2018 becomes a wave election. The upshot for the party is that their rebuilding efforts don't need to be perfect. The DCCC can fall short on some of its 28 reforms. The DNC's reinvention can still be a work in progress. "If Democrats retake the House," says David Wasserman of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, "it won't be because they suddenly devised some brilliant campaign strategy. It will be a voter backlash against Trump. The vast majority of seats are subject to the political crosswinds of national politics."

Still, for the Democrats to win back the House, the party will need to both harness the energy of its base and reach to the center. "What will put them over the top is if they start winning over huge shares of independent voters," says Wasserman. "The last few times the House flipped, independent voters voted for the out party by about 18 points."

Most encouraging to Democrats today is that the anti-Trump backlash is already producing a windfall of young veteran candidates – men and women in the mold of Tammy Duckworth, a former Army helicopter pilot whose Senate victory was one of the few bright spots for Democrats last November. "We've got about three dozen candidates who are veterans," says Lieu. Moulton, who served four tours in Iraq, says he's pleased to see the DCCC embrace veteran candidates. "The Democratic Party has realized that some of these thoughtful public servants who serve the country are exactly the kind of folks that independents are looking for in these swing districts."

To get a flavor of the class of 2018, I interviewed three veterans who weren't recruited by the party but have tapped themselves to run for office. They're all earnest, disciplined and formidable. And while they're all proud Democrats, their partisanship takes a back seat to patriotism. Josh Butner is a former Navy SEAL commander challenging Rep. Duncan Hunter in a California district east of San Diego. Hunter represents one of the most conservative districts in the state but is also under criminal investigation for allegedly misusing campaign funds. Jason Crow, running in a swing district in Colorado that Clinton won easily, is a former Army Ranger who addressed the 2012 Democratic National Convention for Obama, saluting the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." He's running against Rep. Mike Coffman, who promised to stand up to Trump but has emerged as a rubber stamp.

And then there's Mikie Sherrill, a mother of four and former federal prosecutor who flew helicopters for the Navy after graduating from Annapolis. (Sherrill also holds a law degree from Georgetown and a global-history master's from the London School of Economics.) As charismatic as she is smart, Sherrill is running for a New Jersey seat held by Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, a hoary 22-year incumbent who refuses to hold town-hall meetings and barked at constituents questioning his support of Trumpcare to "back off." Frelinghuysen even complained to one of his donors, a board member at the company where a participant in the resistance was employed, that "one of the ringleaders works in your bank!".
