They didn't lose. They put things on hiatus for a couple of years, and can plan the next campaign based on an obstructive Dem congress.
And, I'll remind you, put another turd on the SCOTUS if the wrong one pops their clogs.
If I were a Republican backer now, I'd spend the next two years counting all the extra cash I've made and working out how much to spend on TV ads to resume business in 2020.
Trump fires Attorney General Jeff Sessions
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been fired by President Donald Trump.
"We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well!" Mr Trump tweeted on Wednesday.
The president had repeatedly criticised his top law enforcement official after he recused himself from the Russia investigation dogging the White House.
Mr Trump said Mr Sessions will be temporarily replaced by his chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, who has criticised the Russia inquiry.
In a resignation letter, Mr Sessions - a former Alabama senator who was an early supporter of Mr Trump - made clear the decision to go was not his own.
"Dear Mr President, at your request I am submitting my resignation," he wrote in an undated letter.

awesome !!! another Trump win
Mueller is next, the dodgy little bastard
So it was written a while ago. Couldn't have happened before the mid-terms and Trump could hardly wait a second longer after the polls were over.
Hopefully Sessions had time to put some plans in place in case he feels a bit disgruntled. A little surprise, perhaps, to become public later.
First sign of resentment.
What's Trump's tally of sacking his own appointments now?
Amazing developments. Mueller likely has sealed indictments in the hands of the court as he is smart enough to see this coming. Rumors abound of Rosenstein being removed but no substance to those stories yet. Calls for protest are on social media if he is removed. Trump is on such thin ice.....
You Make Your Own Luck
Trump has spat his dummy again:

Jim Acosta has had his press pass revoked, accused by Sanders who clearly conveniently forgets Lewandowski being arrested for battery of manhandling a woman staffer (which he very, very clearly didn't), and called rude by Drumpf. The. Sheer. Hypocrisy.
Trumptards will be screaming about 'freedom of speech' again no doubt.
^ That press conference was madness. Drumpf was rambling like a lunatic and making false statements and most of the time not making any sense.
What a spineless act. So much for free speech.

It got even stranger when Acosta was refused entry to the White House for his 8:00pm live CNN cross.
His pass was taken by security and has been suspended.
Press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement, among other things that the reporter had put "his hands on" the intern who had attempted to take the microphone during the exchange.
Several journalists have accused the White House of lying.
More of the same ...
but you have to wait until the 5 min mark till we get to hear "there was no collusion"
^ Jeez I wish ALL reporters would band together and support each other and whenever the orange wanker refused to answer, prevaricated, or did his non-sequiturs, that the next guy would persist with the original question.
The POTUS is an undeniably utter petulant child with no answers.
Talking of making false statements; the man is a fucking imbecile and so are his trumpanzees:
In a sign of how the winds have shifted on healthcare (Democrats around the country are hitting Republicans on the issue, and voters trust Democrats more on the issue), President Trump made a bit of a Freudian slip last night, warning his supporters that if Democrats do well in today's midterms, their "plan would obliterate Obamacare"
Drumpfs day. This is hilarious. Especially the last paragraph. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018...executive-time
Apparently he's very depressed. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018...-in-a-bad-mood
The man is clearly losing it.
^To lose it is to suggest he once had it.
