Just wait. Trump won't turn up and fat boys plane will be sabotaged on the ground.

North Korea has abruptly cancelled high-level talks with Seoul and threatened to pull out of a planned summit with Donald Trump if the US continues to insist on the regime giving up all of its nuclear weapons.

A North Korean official said the country had no interest in a summit with US if it was based on “one-sided” demands to give up nuclear weapons, according to state media.

Citing first vice minister of foreign affairs Kim Kye Gwan, North Korea’s central news agency also said the fate of the US summit as well as bilateral relations “would be clear” if Washington speaks of a Libya-style denuclearisation for the North.

The statement added Trump would remain as a “failed president” if he followed in the steps of his predecessors.

“We will appropriately respond to the Trump administration if it approaches the North Korea-US summit meeting with a truthful intent to improve relations,” Kim said.

He added: “But we are no longer interested in a negotiation that will be all about driving us into a corner and making a one-sided demand for us to give up our nukes and this would force us to reconsider whether we would accept the North Korea-US summit meeting.”

The statement came after North Korea cancelled a meeting with South Korean officials just two hours before it was due to start on Wednesday, in protest at joint US-South Korean military exercises, codenamed Max Thunder

Looking at latest decisions of @realDonaldTrump someone could even think: with friends like that who needs enemies. But frankly, EU should be grateful. Thanks to him we got rid of all illusions. We realise that if you need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of your arm.

    EU President Donald Tusk

I believe the EU is in the process of voting on legislation that will protect European companies doing business in Iran, and confirm they are not party to or answerable to trade boycotts and sanctions declared by another nation. Then again, Maersk shipping is pulling out of Iran (Cosco says thanks), and Total says it will too, and sell it's significant share in the worlds largest natural gas field to the Chinese. Real sensible Donald. So now we have the EU & US hurtling towards a trade war, and China expanding and cementing it's position in the ME. The Donald caved quite easily on the ZTE thing, once they explained the ramifications to his dim wit, and will need to cave quite substantially here too. Otherwise, the whole transatlantic and Nato thing is critically compromised- Europe will almost be forced to expand trade links eastward, assisted of course by the encroaching Chinese Belt n Road initiative, which has also been given a useful boost by the don. No wonder the Chinese like him- I think Trump Casinos would do well there.

    Bill Gates on Trump:

    • "He wanted to know the difference between HIV and HPV," Gates said. "So I was able to explain that those were rarely confused with each other."

    • "he asked me if vaccines weren't a bad thing".

    • Mr Gates said that while he didn't know the difference between HIV and HPV, Mr Trump did know a "scary amount" about his then teenage daughter, Jennifer.

    • "He knew my (show jumping) daughter Jennifer, because Trump has this horseshow thing down in Florida and he went up and talked to Jen, and was being super-nice, and then, 20 minutes later, he flew in, in a helicopter, to the same place," Mr Gates said. "So clearly he had been driven away and he wanted to make a grand entrance in a helicopter.

    • "When I walked in, his first sentence kind of threw me off. He said: 'Trump hears that you don't like what Trump is doing.' And I thought, 'Wow, but you're Trump,"' he said.

Bill Gates: Trump Is Even Dumber Than You Thought

As the past 35 months have made painfully clear, Donald Trump is not a particularly smart man. At least, not in the traditional way that Americans used to expect of their president. “We just got back from the Middle East,” he told a room full of Israelis, upon arriving in Jerusalem from Saudi Arabia last May.

That same month, he asked editors from The Economist if they had ever heard of the phrase “priming the pump,” which is basically like asking a bunch of auto mechanics if they’re familiar with “steering wheels. After the Ninth Circuit rejected the administration’s request to resume its travel ban, he tweeted, to the appeals court, “SEE YOU IN COURT.”

He called his national security adviser in the middle of the night to find out if he should want a strong dollar or a weak one. He can’t spell to save his life. He’s still struggling with the difference between a trade deficit and a surplus. So while it shouldn’t come as a huge shock that the president doesn’t know the difference between two very different but similarly named diseases, it’s still nevertheless terrifying to have it confirmed.

On Thursday night, MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes aired footage of a presentation by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, in which the billionaire philanthropist told audience members at a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation event that on two separate occasions, he had to explain to Trump that H.I.V. and H.P.V. are, in fact, not the same thing. The former, human immunodeficiency virus, is a sexually transmitted infection that can lead to AIDS. The latter, human papillomavirus, is an S.T.D. that causes genital warts and, in some cases, cervical cancer. “Both times he wanted to know if there was a difference between H.I.V. and H.P.V., so I was able to explain that those are rarely confused with each other,” Gates told the crowd. Trump, incidentally, is alleged to have forgone prophylactics during sexual encounters with adult-film stars and Playboy models, and has called dodging S.T.D.s his “personal Vietnam.” Women’s vaginas, he told Howard Stern in 1997, are “potential landmines” and “there’s some real danger there.”)

Perhaps more concerning, Trump apparently had to be talked out of launching a commission to investigate whether vaccinations cause autism and other developmental disorders, a fringe conspiracy that has been debunked by the medical community. According to Gates, during both meetings, Trump asked “if vaccines weren’t a bad thing because he was considering a commission to look into ill effects of vaccines.” (Gates said he told him, “No, that’s a dead end. That would be a bad thing, don’t do that.”)

And, of course, no new report on Trump’s mental state would be complete without a creepy anecdote about Trump and someone’s daughter.

Gates also discussed a time when Trump met his daughter, Jennifer Gates, at a “horse-show thing” in Florida. Jennifer is an “accomplished equestrian,” according to Business Insider. About 20 minutes after talking to Jennifer at the event, Gates said, Trump reappeared in style, flying in on a helicopter to the same place he had just been.
“So clearly he had been driven away, but he wanted to make a grand entrance in a helicopter,” Gates said, mimicking the flight path of Trump’s helicopter with his hand, eliciting another round of laughs. Gates added that his daughter came up in conversation when the pair first talked.
“It was actually kind of scary how much he knew about my daughter’s appearance,” Gates said. “Melinda didn’t like that.”
    Scary, indeed.

    So much winning....

China, the world’s biggest soybean importer, almost tripled purchases from Russia amid a trade dispute with the U.S., the biggest producer.

    Russia
sold about 850,000 metric tons of soybeans to China from the start of the 12-month season in July through mid-May, according to Russia’s agriculture agency Rosselkhoznadzor. That’s more than during any season before and compares with about 340,000 tons sold during all of the previous period, Chinese customs data show.

    China has already
canceled several shipments from the U.S. in anticipation of tariffs on the country’s products. While Brazil is expected to take much of that market share, Russia is also benefiting.

I thought this was interesting: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...=.c82c1a9fd005

An argument that far from being the loose cannon / unp[redictable / swamp draining maverick he's variously portrayed as Trump's actually entirely predictable in his choices and actions and thus open to being exploited by other countries for it.

He makes decisions based on his ingrained biases and instincts, is incapable of change, and will ignore objective facts if they run contrary to his thinking.

"What are these predispositions? Allied nations, and especially Japan, play the United States for a chump. Dictators are strong and decisive and therefore to be admired. Immigrants and people of color are suspect. Wealthy people usually know best, while intellectuals are not to be trusted. Trade deficits are the ultimate sign of national weakness, and manufacturing is the linchpin of any economy. Anything Barack Obama did should be undone."

    U
kraine reportedly paid Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen to arrange White House talks

Donald Trump met Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko in the Oval Office at the White House last June

US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has received a secret payment of at least $US400,000 ($531,000)
to arrange talks between Mr Trump and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko last year, the British Broadcasting Corporation reports.

The payment was arranged by intermediaries acting for Mr Poroshenko who wanted to open a back channel to the Republican US President, the BBC
said, citing unnamed sources in Kiev.

Mr Cohen, who was not registered as a representative of Ukraine, was brought in because Ukraine's registered lobbyists and its embassy in
Washington could get Mr Poroshenko little more than a photo op with Mr Trump while the Ukrainian leader "needed something that could be
portrayed as 'talks,'" the broadcaster reported.

"This story is completely false," Mr Cohen said in a text message to Reuters.

The White House did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
In a statement to Reuters, Mr Poroshenko's office also said the story was false.

"Blatant lie, slander and fake," it said.
The two Ukrainians said to have opened the back channel denied the story, the BBC reported.

Mr Trump met with Mr Poroshenko at the White House on June 20, 2017, in what was officially called a "drop-by" visit after the
Ukrainian leader's separate talks with Vice-President Mike Pence.
