Counties don't vote people do. Precincts report into a total vote count by state. Counties are simply an arbitrary governmental boundary drawn on a map.Originally Posted by RPETER65

He's too dense.
^ You are a shitbag and stupid as a rock your comments are that of a buffoon. Just go away you sad multi nic troll. Nobody likes you.
His attacks on civil liberties and the media are political. They are designed to stir up emotions. He is a classic fascist. Whether he succeeds or his held back by the constitution he is attempting to move the line. You are too stupid to see what he is up to.Originally Posted by Cold Pizza

As an unbiased outsider looking in I think to be fair to Obama, he had to battle a hostile congress, the world financial crisis, plus all the problems left by the ill conceived Iraq war caused by Bush and his mate Tony Blair. The US looks like its economy is starting to recover after the financial crisis in part caused by poor oversight by Greenspan.
I don't think you could call the Democrats a far left party by any means. They appear to be very much a centrist party by European and Australian standards.
If you want to see a real far left looney party check out the policy agenda of the Australian Green party on the internet, you'll wet yourself laughing.
He lost a lot of world credibility over the "red line" he had set and allowed Syria to cross re chemical weapons. A "no fly zone" would have helped the civilian population and this is now impossible with the entry of the Russians, who now have a much greater say because of his prevarication. again a bit more backbone from the Europeans would have helped but as usual at the first sign of trouble they find a corner and immediately assume the foetal position.
I think he has handled both China and Russia poorly, but again in fairness with little help from America's allies. The Russians and Chinese now treat The USA with disdain, something they only normally reserve for the European union who could not organise a piss up in a brewery. His legacy will be what ever is left of Obamacare and the slow improvement of the U.S.economy since the GFC.
That is the winning comment of the night. Finally some logic.Originally Posted by Hugh Cow

Counties are not only an arditrary boundary they are a grouping of people who have their own identities and beliefs, and it is from these beliefs they vote,if you don't believe this take a look at a map of how the US voted county by county.
It does not matter in the least. The only thing that matters is total votes by state. Scores of counties flipped from Obama in 2012 to Trump and they may well flip back to vote Democratic in the next presidential election. What you seem to be suggesting is that states are won by a candidate winning a majority of counties and that is not the way it works. Your argument about total counties won by a particular candidate is only a rhetorical talking point.Originally Posted by RPETER65
I have no doubt that Trump views Roe v Wade the same way as Village Idiot Dubbya did: When asked about it shortly after Katrina, Bush said, "I don't care how they get out, they just have to get out of New Orleans".Originally Posted by Humbert
You may call the dems a centrist party along euro lines but remember in Europe there is a massive growing wall of rejection of it. The euro populace don't think its central anymore they think its hard core left and reject it. This wave is still growing too.
Obams main accomplishment? He wasn't as bad as Bush, and the World hates him a lot less.
Domestically, Obamacare- but that requires a major rework, to incorporate the most popular thing of all with the public- ie the 'public option'. No way that will happen under drumpf.
From my childhood reading I seem to remember the electoral college was set up so no one region, or party could dominate it easily, thus u need a cross section of the populace and country to win it. The dems lead in a few states, large cities and coastal areas, the other 80% of the country is republican. The dems doing themselves in in the other 80% doomed them. The dems have ghettoized themselves. And their relection of Pelosi and possibly of Ellison just reinforces this. And since the extreme left dominates the dems they cannot see anyway to broaden their base without abandoning their hard core left values. Having a majority means squat, especially when that majority comes from hard left dominated states with millions of illegals that they are happy to let vote.
The greatest contribution to the world Obama gave was when he interfered in the U.K. Referendum by sticking with the Remain camp, poking his nose into this offended Brits so much they then voted the opposite of what Obama told them.
Obama won the leave vote.
