The only ones who want to stay in the EU are Germany, France and Belgium, and the countries that spend all their time sponging off the rest.

Early days yet, all the doom and gloom about the EU punishing the UK, does anyone really believe that EU money will pull out of the city of London.
They are there because it does not have to follow EU money regulations, the rich care little about rights and wrongs, government policies, only about the bottom line, money.

EU manufacturers aren't going to close profit making factories, because a fat cow in Germany says so.

Plus the exit plan is still unknown, as both the main parties are pro EU, it could be years before any change even starts.

Personally, I don't believe the will of the people means shit to the rulers of the EU/UK, they will do what is best for them long term.

Dutch anti-immigration leader calls for referendum | Bangkok Post: news
I would think that only an idiot asks for a referendum in another country before the dust has settled.
The UK most likely will go through a time of uncertainty and losses, before it will get to the stage of the promised walhalla - if it ever gets there.
So, asking for a referendum too early is just plain stupid.

Besides, in the case of the Netherlands, a referendum on existing legislation and treaties isnít possible.

It was on the cards before today.

Quote:
The mood is reportedly the same in the Netherlands, with a February opinion poll finding that 53 percent of Dutch citizens want a 'Nexit' referendum. Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch right-wing, populist PVV party, currently topping opinion polls, openly expressed hopes a ‘Nexit’ could follow a ‘Brexit.’
Calling ‘Brexit’ a “patriotic spring,” he told radio BNR the Netherlands should be the next country to leave the bloc to “[rediscover] its national identity, the nation where people get back in control of their own identity, borders and immigration.

Nice to see England (clearly Britain has just died) complete its historical mission of becoming an insignificant, rain-sodden neo-liberal colony. At heart, what a dire little shithole the country is and what galactically awful people the English are. Thank God I have nothing more to do with the miserable fucking place.

Great news. A big shift from the middle ground. The establishment getting a clear message. Media of course characterising it as shift to right but is actually a protest vote against establishment politics.

It isnt possible to start a referendum in the Netherlands on something that is law already.
So one first needs to get a majority in the Dutch parliament for a ruling to trigger article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, before one can have a referendum. And currently there is not a majority at all for such a thing.

These are the "own constitutional requirements" that you refer to.

Isn't it rather that the Brits will lose trading etc. privileges when leaving the EU? If you like to call that 'punishment', then it's entirely self-inflicted.
